I use Thunderbird with the Minimize to Tray extension, so that it can sit in the System Tray. I can configure it to automatically check the server every minute, so that I get the mails almost instantly. It's using 26200 K of memory right now, though... If there's a better program, I'll probably switch.
It's my personal opinion, but I feel that such programs that check your email and notify you of new emails are not very helpful. They can be very distracting and disturbing especially if you receive large volumes of email per day. Of course, if you need to respond ASAP to your emails, such email checkers are great.

Being a MOD here, I do need to respond to E-Mails Quickly, so that is why I need a checker.....

CheckMail (latest version 2.4.3) is a powerful but small email checking program. It uses about 2680K of memory. Key Features
* Unlimited number of POP3 email accounts * Can act as a POP3 server by collecting emails of many accounts and storing them locally * Can act as an SMTP server by collecting all emails of a local network and sending them on schedule * Custom notifications for different emails/accounts/groups/etc.
That is exactly what I am looking for, thank you very much for that link....
Not very much of a system hog, and plenty of features, moer than I will ever use actually, And a small memory footprint.
One Small question, how much CPU does it use? (not that it really matters to me )
i have one sitting on my system try right now. if you use gmail, an email from google. download gmail notifier, it check like every 1minute or something like that. so im always knkow when im getting my mail.
or if your on hotmail your can just log onto msn messenger and chat with your mates and when you get your email, it tells you in the corner. but i find this alot slower than gmail. maybe there are lots of users using hotmail msn around the world...
i personally just stick with hotmail its simple and easy to use and gets the job done

QUOTE Major Virus Types and How They Work Computer viruses are well-named: their behavior bears
a striking resemblance to how real-life biological viruses work, and the ways of dealing with them
can be quite similar as well! A biological virus infects a host (a creature), using it as a vehicle
for life. It reproduces rapidly; one of its primary goals is to spread to other creatures and
thereby perpetuate itself. It also tends to move from person to person and eventually, months later,
comes back to reinfect the same people again. Computer viruses work in the same w....

QUOTE Lycos announced last week that their new e-mail service, currently in beta testing, will
offer 3GB of storage and allow the size of attachments sent and received to be unlimited - for free.
An upgraded plan for 20 dollars would boost the storage capacity to 5 GB, but 3 GB should be
sufficient for most regular internet and e-mail users. This paid email service is the first of its
kind, with exception to Yahoo Mail, which was my former mail client, but with Gmail's new
appearance, I stopped using the deprecated Yahoo mail, which offers only 2 GB of space, com....
Hi everybody, Just now I have got a nice link Hedir Website Checker . As the name implies,
this will check your website in terms of the following: 1) Spam Checker 2) Duplicate Checker 3) HTTP
Status Checker 4) Validate Code 5) Validate Links and much more! Actually, it is not an independant
web tool, but an integration of different tools already available in the web. However, I think, it
deserves a visit atleast for its Spam Checker Tool ( in Beta form). Regards, Sid....

Do you still remember the days when our free Hotmail and Yahoo mail inboxes were only a few
megabytes? 2mb for hotmail and 4 mb for Yahoo! Mail? With the entry of Google's Gmail which
offers 1 Gigabyte of free email storage space, the battle is set between all these free email
providers. Who do you think is winning? I remembered that Yahoo! quickly followed up with 250mb
soon after Gmail. I was using Hotmail, and I was conficent that MSN will also increase storage
space. But they didn't and I switced to Gmail which now offers 2 gig. Hotmail has only recently

Hey, first post. Thought I would point out this handy little resource to you all /smile.gif"
style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> You know all the sites that
have "contact" pages with a few boxes that say to enter your email address, subject, and then you
click the "submit" button to have the email sent to them? It's much easier to do it through
email forms like that rather than copying/pasting the email address in your standard email client.
The following site will allow you to easily create a form like that, in literally less ....
In response to this topic . G-Mail is currently still in the beta phase right now. You can right
now sign up for a Google Account to use with other services like Google Groups and Google Answers
but you can't sign up yourself to get a G-Mail account right now, you need to be invited. To
get an invite just sign up on isnoop.net 's G-Mail spooler ! Unbelievably there are currently
over 40,000 invites available!....

dear feriend! i sent an email by my account(XXXXXXXX@XXXXXXX.com) to my feriend but it went to bulk
box . how i can solve these problem!? Best Regards! This happens when any user in the world
clicks your email and Clicks SPAM. Those providers automatically notify others about it too and
finally your email starts going to bulk. I think there is a list of spam email addresses and domains
which are maintained at some place where various email providers can access. When so....
