Laptop Screen Saver Problem

Jimmy89
Hi,
When I am using my laptop on battery power (not plugged in) the screen saver loads properly and works fine at the time specified. The Screen will turn off after 5 minutes of no activity.

The problem occurs when I have the laptop plugged in and/or charging. The screen saver will not appear. I can make it appear my going to the screen saver properties, but otherwise it won't appear. Also the screen will not turn off after 5 minutes, it just sits there!

Thanks
-jimmy

You could check your power settings, i don't have a laptop but i know it can play a part. Should be found in the control panel somewhere.
Also check to see if you have any power saving settings enabled if you have any laptop software installed, check your video card drivers to see if it has an auto shutdown of the screen feature etc.

It seems like a power saving feature you have turned on to me. Most likely bet will be the power options or laptop control program (if you have it installed).

Hope it helps

HellFire121 is right. It should be your setting in the Power Option in control panel.

When opening it, there's an option to select Power Schemes. If you have software installed, then you should let your software handle the power management.

It should allow you to choose your custom setting when you are plug in to power or using battery.
Follow the step by step instruction, you should get it done easily. Cheers

My laptop has been recently rebooting on it's own when I'm using it. It doesn't seem to
matter what I'm doing when this happens. I just formatted and installed Windows XP on this
machine a few weeks ago. Not sure if there is some program that might be causing this problem. I
checked the Event Viewer to see if it provided any information on this and all I see that might be
alarming is under the Application area. I have 2 warnings that repeat itself a handful of times.

Are you getting the infamous, dreaded, Blue Screen of Death on your Windows 98 machine? This usually
means that your registry is corrupted, and luckily for you, that can be fixed rather easily. The
registry is a vital part of a Windows machine, it is where hardware settings, software settings,
user preferences and more are all stored. The Windows registry is far from perfect, however, and has
some serious problems. Programs not installing or uninstalling correctly, messy programs, spyware
and more all take its toll on the registry, and it becomes a mess, and so does you....

I heard a rumor that Windows vista is going to abandon the long-feared Blue Screen of Death (BSOD)
and make it red instead, kind of a Red Screen of Death (RSOD). Article . The BSOD will still be
used, but for lesser errors, only the RSOD will have the intensely bad-news errors. Is this a good
idea or no? I personally think it is stupid and only points out the errors in Windows. People will
be talking about the change for a while. Some less computer-literate users might wonder what the
