Are you talking about Kaspersky Antivirus and Avira Antivir?
I feel that Kaspersky Antivirus is more popular and more used than the Avira Antivir, which is not mentioned a lot in most antivirus comparative reviews. Personally, if I had to make a choice, I would use Kaspersky Antivirus since I have not seen any reviews on the Antivir program.
I'd go for Avira Antivir, it's free and it works realy great.
I use to have a link to a pdf with a very detailed report on how effective the different anti-virus products are, but I can't find it anymore  .
