you can put sound in your site by using for example javascript! many browser can understand javascript and you can use it everywhere on your website! for example by clicking on a link or directly strat a sound by opening the site. but i think you shouldnt put musik or something on you page! its annoying.. and if you really want, you should put on a button with the value "mute!... read more.

Sounds are not much good really, as they annoy web users and discourage them from returning to your site. However, sounds are seen as exceptable on: flash sites, sites for bands/singers and personal sites where you might want to show off what you can play. Remember not to use copyrighted sounds though, as it is a illegal and can get you banned from your hosting service.
you can put it anywhere. keep in mind that it slows down your site and most of the users don't like it. if you do want it, search google for a flash music player. include that in your site so the users can turn sound on & off.
There is another easy way to do it, is to add a flash with sound volume control.
Volume level of every computer may be different, it is advisable to add adjustable volume control. It allowed users to lower the volume or no volume at all for slient mode.

Music on the web is a very unpolite thing, if you have a GPRS connection and you pay the number of Bytes downloaded, If you put Music on a web site many person with this problems won't came again to yours site...
eh...I'm with k22. I discourage putting sounds on a website unless you specifically have a hyperlink to the file (in which case you are showcasing this sound file). It really slows some computers down and people don't generally enjoy it too much ^_^
If you have flash and know how to use it, I suggest making it a .swf, that always works for me.

I also discourage putting souds on your site. I tried it once and it annoyed my firends and it also didn't work for a few of my friends, cause usually when you embed it plays in Quicktime and most of my firneds have Linux soooo.
There is a better way of putting sound on your site rather than embed. I forget what it was but I think it may have been something like object.
Streaming sounds is also a good way to serve up sound on a site. It doesn't slow down your pages on the initial load - it can be turned down or off on demand - and it helps give you a professional feel to your pages. That might even be a good topic for a tutorial.
There are tons of free sounds available on the internet - just use your favorite search engine and search for free sound effects or free midi or whatever flavour sound file your require. Be prepared to sort through some crap though before you find what you want. I don't really have any favorite sites since you seem to have to look everywhere with each new project to find what you want anyways.
