I read THG, but I've found Anandtech to be pretty good. If you overclock at all, HardOCP has tons of great reviews and articles about all sorts of overclocking.

All of them combined in using some brains. Just google for the words: review OR test product just replace the product you want. This works also great w/o the 'test' A little example: review OR test Athlon X2 3800+

well, i personally try the google choice ! i look around and watch all the stuff sites say about the piece of hardware i want tu buy or just simply get some more info about it ! but essentially is that i try to find stuff people said about the product, because it's important for me to find out how the hardware works in different situations, and find more opinions ! but... i have to say that most of all i rely on a pc magazine, wich i buy since 1999, and i found the reviewers very precise in their opinions !

for me the most comprehensive and up-to-date hardware review site is tomshardware.com! the cpu comparison charts, NAS charts, router charts, hard disk charts are so detailed, there are nothing like those in the web.

QUOTE(rockershive @ Apr 14 2008, 11:42 AM) for me the most comprehensive and up-to-date hardware review site is tomshardware.com! the cpu comparison charts, NAS charts, router charts, hard disk charts are so detailed, there are nothing like those in the web. That's a fact, but they don't have charts for every piece of harware (like fan controllers, cases, sata controllers, ...).

Creative Muvo V200 Vs. Ipod Shuffle "clamshell"
A review which is partialy a guide (6) Creative MuVo V200, 512MB (white) Two years ago I found it appropriate to finally buy an MP3
player, as a replacement for my ancient Grundig CD player. Being very old, it didn't support MP3
disc, and kept skipping small bits when moved. Pay attention to the word I used - not bumped, not
shaken, but moved. And I needed music the most while walking/travelling, i.e. away from home. So, an
MP3 player was the logical choice. So, in the summer 2005, I bought Creative MuVo V200, with 512MB
of storage. It has no connection to the iPod in the title whatsoever, but I found....
Cruzer Flash Drive (usb)
What's with the software (11) I have a couple of 1G drives by other brands and just picked up a new 2G cruzer by Sandisk. But
it comes with all this (stupid) software ... a launcher and stuff. I'm used to plugging it in
and using it. And with the launching software it wants me to WAIT until it launches its own apps.
What's the advantage? It seems quite redundant to have this extra software running. I deleted
the files, but they keep coming back. YIKES! How do I get rid of them!? ....
Review Of Sonicwall Tz170 Firewall/router
(0) Overall: B- If you can stand the harassment. Hardware: A+ The hardware has performed very well,
little to no problems. Software: A- Only one glitch found. Licensing: C- This has caused me some
problems. My license is for 10 concurrent connections. I had a LAN party in February which had 15
people, needless to say I had some problems. Harassment: F- If you don’t renew the software prepare

stronger and more robust firewall for my home. For many years I used a Linksys hom....
Which Systems Should I Go For?
comparing hardware (14) I'll be setting up an IT lab here with about 30 computers for our school. IT lab may be a bit
misleading, it's more for children and young people who will use the computer for basic tasks
like Office, edutainment, games, and maybe some light graphics work. Think small projects in
photoshop. So i have several options, and i'm trying to strike a balance between economy and at
the same time getting something that won't be totally obsolete in a couple years. Also i would
like it to be upgradeable in the event that in the future, say a 3d graphics program star....

Epson Emp-x3
review (0) I had the chance to be a part in the team that reviewed an EPSON EMP-X3 video projector. These are
the things me and my other 2 colleagues have written about it. (The review is in Romanian for the IT
Magazine I work for... if there are mistaken translations, I will try to edit them) Epson

tough I think you won’t buy something that costs 1500$-1600$ to use it at home)

Headphones : Altec Lansing AHS5 15
review (0) With over 60 years old experience, Altec Lansing is well known for the sound quality of the
equipment they sell. The headphone’s design resembles the professional gear used in recording
studios. The width is adjustable, and each headphone can be angled in any way for a better control.
The incorporated microphone has a flexible arm that can be tilted up, along the headphone when you
are not using it. The connecting cable is 200 centimeters long and has a volume adjusting wheel, and
besides it, there is a switch to set the sound level of the microphone or to turn it off. T....
Logitech MX Revolution
review (2) Quicker and smarter than his predecessors, MX Revolution is a wireless mouse, with a revolutionary
design from the guys at Logitech. Construction and facilities. MX Revolution is a big step
in mouse evolution, redefining the concept of scroll wheel by introducing the new SmartShift
technology. The wheel is made from aluminum and is silent, while being very useful. It has 2 ways of
working : step by step and fast. This make possible the navigation in multiple pages of a document
with only one move. Another innovation is a side wheel, used to navigate between open....
Benq DC C740
review (1) Benq DC C740 is a digital photo camera, that's compact, and made for both beginner users and
advanced ones. DC C740 uses a CCD 7 megapixel sensor, and Pentax SMC (super multi coating)
lens. The camera's functions are adapted for each environment the photo is made in. There are 13
modes a photo can be made in. During the filming you can use the optic zoom, which is just at 3X for
this camera. The internal memory is just 9MB, not even close to being enough to make photos at max
resolution. Just like other high-tech models from Benq, the DC C740 gives the us....
Ibm Thinkpad T40 Review
(0) The ThinkPad T40 I received for my birthday came with Service and Troubleshooting guides which are
very thorough and a Windows XP User Guide. Within minutes I was connected to my office network and
accessing the Internet. No configuring was required. Wi-Fi connecting is just as quick provided you
have your login information ready. The full size keyboard made entering information and working on
documents no different that working on my desktop. Too often laptops have significantly smaller
keyboards which require a period of adjustment and too frequent errors to work s....
Ipod Hardware And Software Question
(9) I had a problem with my 40GB 4th Generation iPod. It was giving me the sad iPod icon. I tried
restoring it to factory default but it wasn't even detected. So I opened up the iPod and tried
reseating all the cables. I wasn't paying attention and forced the hard drive cable in (I know,
stupid thing to do especially for me). I'm usually more careful, but now the extra "pin" (maybe
a ground) at the end is broken and stuck into the wrong side of the hard drive. I put it in the
correct way now minus that "ground" pin at the end (which is still stuck on the other si....

Notebook Or Laptop?
What's the difference, if anything? (16) Okay - now that I've started thinking about "laptop" and "notebook," I have a question for
anyone who might be able to explain. Is there a difference, or is it just a matter of two terms
describing the same thing? If there's a difference, what is it? Now that I'm wondering
about it, it's going to bug me for the rest of the day! *grins*....
Modems: Serial Hardware vs. WinModems
Story of a very happy dial-up user (4) Hello all. I recently bought a serial modem for use with my Linux installation, and thought I would
share the experiance. Now, I know that a lot of people have broadband now and don't really care
about modems, but I thought someone might get something out of this. I'll preface all of this
by telling you that I live only four miles from the largest city in my county (10,000 people). The
AT&T Transcontenental Fiber Backbone runs across the property I live on, and I know this for a fact
as my Father watched them install it, and the aforementioned city is currently ....
Best Way To Manage File/folders Of A Web Site?
(6) When I first started to create web pages I just placed everything into one large file. That soon got
to be a pain in the rear. To find one item I would have to scroll for ever to find what i needed.
Then I started to create sub folders such as index/happy/day/fast.html I think most get my point. I
just started using a mixture of folders and link to folders such as this: tom.html which has a
folder linked to it called tom_files and in that folder all gifs and backgrounds and other on call
items for that page are placed. then sub directoryes as a tree would have. Would lik....
PC Needs Medical Attention
My computer is dying? Hardware probs? (11) Some of you might know about the situation about my computer. You know, the guy with the 4-year old
computer who talked about the BIOS upgrades, etc. Well, you will know. Anyway, my computer needs
urgent medical / hardware attention!! You guys all know how it feels when you get a brand
new computer, right? Well, right now, it feels really old. I have never formatted my disk until 3
years ago, I installed Windows XP Professional on my computer. Since then, I have been upgrading my
hardware, like getting better memory sticks, graphic driver cards, a new sound car....
Hardware Monitoring Software
Users' choice and opinions (1) Hi ! I've been having some problems with my PC : It's powered by a P4 - 2.4C GHz
processor with 512 MB DDR RAM on an Intel 865 GBF motherboard. Of late, I've been getting
warnings regarding temperature going into the red zones. That prompted me to open up the cabinet and
perform maintenance and cleaning etc. Intel's Active Monitor which was installed from the
accompanying Driver CD notified me about this. This led me to a search for similar software and
I'd like opinions from users here. The most widely talked about monitoring software that I c....
Hardware Trouble Shooting
A question on how to proceed... (6) Hey, I ran into a computer that a friend of mine had been hanging onto from an office he used to
work at. He couldn't get it to work and another friend of his that tried to get it to work could
not either. (btw, these are a few guys quite a bit older then me). Anyways, long story short, he
dropped it off to me after I did a bit of computer work for him at his house. So now I have a
computer that is most likely completely dead, but that I'd like to eitehr fix up or scrap and
salvage parts. My question is, how should I go about testing out the hardware of the co....
