Gothic 3 vs Oblivion Gothic 3 Vs Oblivion I have played both Gothic 3 and Oblivion several times. As a long-time fan of the Gothic series, I was horrified by Gothic 3 when it was first released - however, especially since the community patches have been released, I have learnt to adore this game. People always try to compare Gothic 3 and Oblivion; in reality they aren't so comparable. The feeling you get playing each game is vastly different. While it doesn't take a genius to work out that th...

will gothic 3 will be able to beat oblivion ? what are ur views about it? Never heard about this Gothic 3. Just looked for some screenshots and they look good, but since 90% of nowadays' games look awesome on 8 SLI video cards, I'd like to know about the gameplay and storyline, in case anyone tried it already.
Same here. I don't know anything about Gothic 3 and haven't heard ANYTHING in my life about Gothic 2... or even Gothic 1. By the way, I heard Oblivion got a very high score review from Gamespot and all that but... still... the graphics are horribly good (not being sarcastic here) and the gameplay, content, and engine has been upgraded by a significant amount.
I haven't played it yet but many of my friends keep telling me it's an awesome game. Man! I need to get some new stuff for my computer though... like a CPU .. and a graphics card But the $$$$ is the problem here HEHEHE I still don't know much (I don't have the bandwidth atm to check out the movies) but screenies look decent. From what I read, the main points are non-lineairity and focused on having tons of side Qs and how your actions involve gameplay experience. Not just how the world changes around you but how people react to you. that aspect seems very pleasing to me and I'm going to follow news on gothic 3. I liked Oblivion, but not enough for replay. This one seems to have great replay value and better combat/item system a site for screenies/trailers http://pc.ign.com/objects/726/726093.html ![]() Eager to try it out.
Wow it's unbelivable that you guy's don't know Gothic (3)
Assuming that you're not located in (middle) europe you have an excuse To make it short, Gothic is the best german video game up to date. and no this is also the opinion of other european people who have played gothic The fact that this game is simply outstanding is that the german game industry is rather small compared to the industry in the usa/canada/france. The majority of german games are low budget productions/do not have a high standard but that is about to change So you never played a "good" german game and out of the blue there was Gothic Which had everything, good graphics and good story This was the first game that could compete with other blockbuster games from the areas mentioned above. After Gothic they where sceptical if they could do a successor as enjoyable as his predecessor. Even if Gothic was a instant success they doubt it since germany is not known for its quality games So Gothic 2 shipped and it raised the bar on more time. That's basically the story behind it why people in europe hype it so much. Gothic can be compared to Oblivon but you play with a third person camera unlike Oblivion with its first person camera but you're able to change the view in both games (third person <-> first person) Basically there is no much difference but at the same time its not a complete rip off It's also set in a fantasy world and you get exp by killing monsters As said the fact that its a really really good game from germany makes it oustanding for european people. I would recommend everybody to try out Gothic 2 or 3. Once you played it you are hooked I can speak for myself PS: Gothic 3 gone gold today! please excuse my grammar I was in a hurry :/
It's been out for a while, anyone tried it? Heard some pleasant things about it. Although combat isn't supposed to be better than Oblivion (at least different), world and radiant AI is apparantly vast superior. Seems like what I want in such an RPG.
Incredibly cheap as usual over play.com, 37€ and 31 at cd-wow.com. I love internet shops
nothing is better than oblivion plain and simple.
the re-play value is SO high, you could play the game 12 times over and not do every quest/dungeoun. Plus the new content just makes it better, or you could make your own mods to the game, yeah....
No good german games ?
Uh ok. Settlers 1-5, farcry, crysis. Sure I'm missing some other good ones. Nowadays, most countries are able to create a good game. Poland had crysis, finnland max payne and the upcoming alan wake. Gothic 3 was a failure btw, maybe after the new 1.8gb patch that the new team is releasing, itll live up to its name.
The Diffrence
Gothic 3 Vs Oblivion Gothic 3 has a way better story line then oblivion and oblivion has better game play. Gothic 3 has way better opponents like dragons, practically beast the size of like 50 guy put together when oblivion only has like boring fights. In Gothic 3 you can take over cities and fight like 500 guys at one time with no lag what so ever but is Oblivion you can only fight like 10 guys at one time and get like supper lag but if you split it up you will find that there are no better then each other. Also gothic 3 has better spells like the spells you get in MIDAS MAGIC SPELLS OF AURUM (Which if you dont have for oblivion you should get caz there fun!) including fire rain, meteors falling from the sky etc (all in Gothic 3 and Midas mod for oblivion. Im just saying, this is only my opinion lots of people think different Also in Gothic 3 you can chose between 3 endings (all different) in oblivion you can only be the good guy. Gothic Vs Oblivion
Gothic 3 Vs Oblivion IGuest .I write this post just because of you. I have played Gothic 1,2,3 and Oblivion.Gothic 1 and 2 were way better games than 3.Gothic 3 has a silly combat system that you win only if you spamm attack. About lag: Gothic 3 is one of the most laggy and full of BUGS game ever made. Many people think there should had been more than 3 months of development before publishing the game.Continues crashes and spamm is what makes Gothic 3.I believe the story line is just good. But you CAN KILL NPCS that are involved in the main quest before you reach the step that you need em.You find out that they are killed in battles for Liberting the Cities. For example one Shaman after meeting Xardas is needed to talk.Unfortunately I had liberate the city he was living. And talking about this *amazing* magic of Gothic 3.Spells are actually bugged at 1.0 version. For example you hit a wolf with a fireball, and the wolf loses hp without aggroing. It just sits there to die from your spells if you are far enough.Isn't that lame?(I am not talking about many yards away, just a little far)These things didn't come out of my mind.It was from my gaming experience. Oblivion is way better that Gothic 3 considering the much better combat style, the beautiful world, better NPCs,many questlines (like questlines to take part in a brotherhood or guild.(Also many mods and 2 official expansions adding a lot of new gaming. Sorry about my english Good Luck in your Gaming guys -Gothic 3 maybe has changed after patches- -reply by Valadis Latest Entries
Gothic 3 vs Oblivion
Gothic 3 Vs Oblivion I have played both Gothic 3 and Oblivion several times. First, get the latest patches (official & community) if you want to really enjoy Gothic 3 world. Then we can really compare Gothic 3 and Oblivion. I personally like the 'feel' of close melee combats in Oblivion, having at least three previous installment that dedicated in this area. Bethesda is doing a superb job. In Gothic 3 the 3rd person combat is okay (though I've seen better, like in Witcher). I never switch to the 1st person when I'm in the middle of a brawl, I used it only for sightseeing. The world in Gothic 3 is wonderful. And big. Designed to make you lost in the game (not being sarcastic) because it lacks any useful navigation system like in Oblivion. When you have a mission to find people or kill some beasts you're going have to comb the area, or find a walkthrough. Monsters are tough and more varied in Gothic 3. Even a puny goblin could whack you easily. Don't even think of fighting a dragon without proper gears and spells. While in Oblivion everything is leveled up, so you won't have to worry. I think the Elder Scrolls universe is more mature and more complex than Gothic, so if you think Oblivion is another tale intertwined in the world Elder Scrolls than you'll know that Oblivion has better story than Gothic. Bottomline, Oblivion and Gothic has its own flavor, but me, I like Oblivion more than Gothic. ...Sorry for the bad English, I live in Mars. -reply by Xibx
Most games suck until the fan community gets some decent mods up in it. Like the game "Pirates of the Caribbean." Really buggy (the main quest would break and you'd be screwed and have to start all over in some cases.), and the gameplay wasn't spectacular... well since the game was so moddable, you download the 800 some mega fan-patch they've come out with, and it's like playing a totally different game!
Even games that are awesome to begin with a year ago can be resurrected from the shelf with some good mods. So even if Gothic 3 is buggy and whatnot, there would be hope for it if it were able to be fixed by a loyal fan community. Oblivion has that going for it, no doubt. With literally hundreds of fan add-ons and mods, the game gives you a hell of a bang for your buck, even after you've played it for 100 hours and beaten the main quest, you can download new missions, armors, mods, etc to give the gameplay a new experience. One of the more fun mods for Oblivion I've found is I believe called "28 Days and a Bit - A Zombie Mod" (Found here: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=13418 ) This one actually simulates a zombie outbreak by infecting 4 zombies when you start playing, off in another city. As you play, you don't see it, but the zombie infection slowly starts growing, and by the time you find some, they've practically taken over a city and you've got to find survivors to fight them off, or you risk becoming one, which is just another facet of gameplay. It's a different sort of experience if you've already beaten the game, as obviously this would kill some non-essential NPC's and though you can resurrect NPCs that have died, it really is worth it only if you're playing FOR this mod, rather than using the mod while playing a serious game trying to beat the main quest.
