As we speak, the capacity of every gmail account is growing steadily. Because gmail has decided to increase the storage room of all accounts I quote (i may quote, can't I?) QUOTE A Google approach to math. On the eve of Gmail's one-year birthday, our engineers were toiling away furiously. Notes scribbled all over the walls. Complex calculations on napkins and empty pizza boxes. Millions of M&Ms. The result?... starting today, we're beginning the roll-out of our new and top secret Infinity+1 storage plan. The key features are: * Write, don't worry. You want to stop caring about storage. We want to keep giving you more. Today, and beyond. * The gift that keeps on giving. 1260.223112 megabytes of storage (and counting) for every user. * No complicated equations. No tough algorithms. Just this one graph: source : www.gmail.com Cool isn't it?

Maybe they should give you a friend each time you sign up to help you fill up the space. Last year I had a hotmail account and couldn't keep no more than two emails basically. Next I got a 1gb email which I haven't been even close to filling up, now I am getting a thereotical infinity account? Google could do hosting with all the space. GHost...no wait that spells a word. Well anyway, they are slowly taking over the internet don't you think. Advert Schemes, Email and of course the search engine...all for free. All they need to do is release an instant messenger, hosting account and an internet browser and we've got a new Microsoft. Well hopefully not as bad as Microsoft as at least Google listens to its customers to some extent.

What do you mean by that? QUOTE Maybe they should give you a friend
About hosting, could be a good idea. If you could split a part of your storage to some kind of web-server or something.

Yea that is exactly what I need for movies that I could make and such. To have a host that could do that, I wonder how much space it could be.

Just me being sarcastic. Hardly any of my friends would email me, they'd phone me for a chat, text me to tell me something or call down to do something. The only person I email is my uncle in Australia because it is cheaper and easier than phoning. But we dont have that much to talk about. So all I find so much space for is emailing files to my mates or putting important files into emails and sending them to myself to store the files. But if they gave you a free friend... Id have someone to email! I can imagine the advertising campaign. "Sign up now and recieve unlimited space for email and, for a limited time only, you can get your own friend. He likes rock music, strawberry ice cream, and midnight strolls on the beach!"

Just checked the "new features!" thingy in my inbox, It says "2GB" expansion, and i checked my account, it says i have "1332" MB. Those ******* havent given me enough!!! EDIT: A check 5 minutes later reveals that i have "1337" MB. Not only is this a whole hotmail account (old-styleee) improvement, i now have a nice 1337 account!!!

Would someone care to give me a few reasons why Gmail is better than Something like Yahoo, or hotmail? I've never had a Gmail, but keep hearing a lot about it. So, yea, if anyone wants to tell me why I should get it, i'm listening. What is so special about it?

Are talking about an email account or a new computer??????????? There is absolutely no reason to abandon your current email service, email = email... Nothing special. But some people like to have enough storage for their stuff, or just like to try something new.

Nothing special. But some people like to have enough storage for their stuff, or just like to try something new. All email services are somewhat equal, one way or another only that their features that they offer are slightly better than one anothers like for instance, GMail, which is based on Javascript which loads rather fast, the first free email service provider for 1GB email storage, the use of third party tools to use GMail in a better way, and so on but if Google were to come up with some instant messenger, I'll make sure everyone on my MSN Contact List recieves an invite and Yahoo!, which will be expanding its email storage to GMail's current 1GB inbox, the features that they are offering when you sign up for their free email service is also alot, with Yahoo! LAUNCH, Geocities, Briefcase and much more. Both free email providers have their pros and cons but they are basically email after all.

This is getting absolutely crazy! I am going to send music videos to people like mad now haha.
musichere - If they feel comfortable enough increasing the number of invites and jacking up the storage space, I have the feeling that they have already alloted and compensated for speed. I have noticed no lag or downtime at all since the numbers started going up. It has actually seemed to get faster.

I'm actually one of the very few people that is not happy about this. By incresing storage space I feel they will have to comprimise in other areas, for example speed, and the level of service that it can provide to each and one of us if it's going to strain itself like this.

the main reason I like gmail so much is that they don't have any kind of advertising in your emails! They have a few text ads if you login, but thats it!! Yahoo and hotmail even have ads at the bottom of each email message (is that right? I think so). That and lot more makes gmail unique, and of course it loads much faster since they don't have any ads on their pages. That is a very good feature lots other dont have. So i would suggest to

Hotmail Controls Spam Beter Than Gmail

of use. I really went after it because it was then offering the highest space for inbox. I also
have a Hotmail Account, eventhough I use Gmail I love Hotmail. The best part of Hotmail is that its
spam filters are more strong than that of GMail. I receive an average of 50 spam mails each day,
some even skip the spam filter and is displayed in Inbox instead of moviing it to spam folder.
Whereas in Hotmail I seldom get any spam. The inteface is also so good and easy an now t....

A Gmail Sign Up Webpage
really needed (13) I think a kinda page is needed where people can post their email addresses so that they recieve a
gmail invitation on that address. The person who posts his email address, basically routes a

that not all members end up sending invites). This would, for the time being, act as a sign up page
for Gmail. I know so many newbies on net who have to do way with services like yahoo and hotmail
(when no one actually needs them with gmail around).....

providers. Who do you think is winning? I remembered that Yahoo! quickly followed up with 250mb

space. But they didn't and I switced to Gmail which now offers 2 gig. Hotmail has only recently
