Try removing the extension from the file eg file.rar -> file That solves it

hm... this is new to me. maybe ashtray is right that antiviruses are unable to scan the RAR files. or maybe that all rar files are mainly used in the hacking community. so there trying to restrict the movement in illegal files. well i think ZIP files are rubbish compared to the RAR files. RAR files has more feature and security on the files inside them. if it get corrupted it would tell you.

i think this is all because of security...... but gmail should enable these RAR files as rar are used very much for compression files, try attaching the rar file in HTML mode of gmail .... may be it will help as it shud...... cheers up and use winzip.......

No!!! USE WINRAR!!!!!  I think i know what's your problem... i read somewhere (i can't find it now!!!) taht you can't send .exe file, even if they are compressed... Meaning: Do u have a .exe file inthat .rar file???? If so.. then try sending that file from another account... This is something to prevent mailicous code from arraiving to your inbox, threatening your security, ans even the gmail servers (i supouse)

you could also do something like this: Change file.rar >> file.rar.txt or something along those lines. I'm sure after clicking it a few times, even a rather unintelligent user would consider deleting the .txt or whatever extension. Better yet you could do this: file.rar >> file(delete_txt_extension).rar.txt That way you have some instruction as to why you are placing two extensions. Again, I believe that most people would figure it out after a while if he/she really wants the file opened ^_^
