Gaaah...my Isp Is Blocking Port 25!

mist
So guys, this is my little poll about port 25 blocking. For those of you who have tried running local SMTP servers and failed simply because their ISP is so worried about so called spammers.....For those who don't know what i'm talking about: Sending mail requires an SMTP server. Most SMTP servers transmit data through port 25. However because of alleged spamming risks, many ISP block port 25 so you cannot run these sort of local SMTP servers. Personally, I believe that they do it so you can't run a very useful/succesful webserver.

If you are not sure if port 25 is blocked, do this:
Start->Run->telnet://mx1.hotmail.com:25
If it connects succesfully, you are not blocked....if not, obviously you are blocked on port 25. GAH

Anyways does anyone have any free work-arounds if port 25 is blocked?

**Edit: Actually I Just Noticed that I made a mistake above.....there are more ways to send mail then smtp.

    Running a Webserver On a Router (0)
Hi guys, I' back again and this tutorial is about port forwarding. I am going to gear it towards
users who want to run a webserver on their computer but cannot, simply because their router is
blocking the http port (usually 80). Before we begin, let me give you some background. Usually, when
you connect to the internet directly through a modem, a user would just have to visit your ip
address (assigned by your isp) to visit your server. However, when you are running on a router,
there are a few things to take into consideration. The router gives private LAN (local are....
  3. Linux – Secure Vnc Over An Ssh Tunnel With Port Forwarding
    (0)
VNC stands for Virtual Network computing. It's a technology that has been around for a long
time. It was originally designed by some people at AT&T Labs a long time ago. It is basically a
cross-platform way for you to connect from one computer over to another computer and to be able to
see a desktop that is being "served up" by the remote machine and run any graphical application – so
it’s graphics-based as opposed to SSH which is text-based. In other words you can run a little
application and using this application connect to another computer on your local network....

I have tried installing this through CUPS several times but it doesn't seem to detect the

have to use Windows when I have to print something? I am using a Debian-based Linux distribution,
Ubuntu 7.04 to be exact. I have a HP Deskjet 656C, and I have obtained a driver from the

  5. Proxy Detection And Blocking.

Hello, I have tried a few simple methods in PHP to detect and block proxies but it always fails (I
tested on an easy to find online list, and not a single one was blocked, they all got the ok
message). It was only a simple X_FORWARD thingy, but even fromy my extensive searches, I find more
information about how to get around detection, and not enough of how to detect lol. Is there
reasonable solution, aside from storing a massive list stamping the bandwidth into the ground (and
not to mention page speed). I don't know if the CPanel has anything included, but I am ....

A friend has a little problem and I don't know how to solve it. He has 2 ethernet cards on his

  10. Lock Down Switch Port To Increase Network Security
Assign the MAC address to each switch port. (0)
One way to boost network security is to use Cisco's Port Security feature to lock down switch
ports. A growing challenge facing network administrators is determining how to control who can
access the organization's internal network—and who can't. For example, can anyone walk into
your office, plug in a laptop, and access your network? You might argue that the wall jack has no
connection to a switch, but couldn't someone just pull the Ethernet cable from a working PC and
connect to the network that way? You might think this an unlikely scenario, but it d....

Hello, i thought this would be interesting since i haven't discussed Javascript in years.
SSI(Server Side Includes) can be used for many interesting things...many of which deal with
connection information and such. A few years ago i was working on something for the Counter-Strike
Blacklist when it existed. It was a project i was making for a site called CS anti-hack Community.
This was going to be an all web-based security project to basically not allow any IP currently on

  23. Port Opening Please?

I am trying to run a server for Counter-Strike Source. In order for the server to be able to run I
need to download an update for it, but I get an error because I can't connect to the download
server. I'm guessing this is because of a firewall on the server. But for me to update it, and
for the server to run so that people can join, I request that you open ports 27000-27100 if it is
possible. If you'd rather only open the ports specifically used, I think this port list will
work... TCP 7002 out TCP 5273 out UDP 27010 out UDP 27012 in and out UDP 27015 ....
