| | Does anyone around here participate in forum-based multiplayer RPG? After trying my hand at various other types of MMORPG and ORPG, I kind of settled on this genre of RPG.
I mean, I do play other types of RPGs but I am kind of hooked on to forum based RPG. Are there anyone out there, who would like to discuss on this?
Note to moderators: I am sorry if there is a topic on this already. I tried searching for it, but could not find it. Pardon me, as I am new to these boards. |

I sometimes take part in forum based RPGs. But the problem is that it's not really reliable. I mean, say like your writing out a post, while you're doing this, someone might have written the same post. Also you never really know what the storyline is because it changes all the time. However, it can be quite fun if you like to interact with people. Also if it's a solo game where everyone has it's own part, then that's good because there's no way that anyone can interfere. Personally I prefer to play on RPG Inferno (this is a forum game that's intergrated with the forum) because it's not text based and you're not playing against anyone else.

Well, it is more of a writing-thrill than gaming. (May be I should not have put this thread here). The concepts of time can be managed, and I have seen systems which do it beautifully, and they rarely bogs one down. And, since it is usually a small community, when there are people playing against each other, a GM (moderator) comes into picture. It all settles quite well. I actually am a GM in one of such forums, and people play by writing. There have yet not been any player vs player, but there have been quite a bit of player vs NPC. As a GM, I was moderating such threads. The amazing part is that the story that comes up as a end result can be quite amazing, since it was not done by one person but many. And if it is a GM moderated thread, the story is very coherent with that of the realm.

Well, I have only just started playing on forum based rpgs, and discovered that they can be preety fun. The best one i've come across is preety small; but it has a loyal fan base and is very funny to play. I reccommend you try this at www.freewebs.com/billsnode, it's actualy preety good, even if slightly eccentric.

Wow! This is a thread that seems to have come back from time. Heh. During this time, I had started a forum RPG of my own which failed due to poor planning. After that, I learnt from it and started again, and it was going pretty good. Now though, since I have been invovled in many other things, I have pulled that forum down too because I did not have time to run it. May be I will start again some time. I have a pretty good universe setup already. Let me know if any of you are interested.

I never liked regular RPG sites, but the text-based ones I have always loved. It is extremely hard to find a good, however. I recommend trying out www.hexrpg.com. Yes, it IS a Harry Potter themed site. HOWEVER you may RP about whatever you wish in the section entitled RP Central. It is easy to keep up with your RP's, and you can find them without hassel as well. I have been on that site for over a year now, it is quite addicting. >.<

A slightly smaller bump. I'm a member of the forum based RPG www.galadoriaonline.com While its currently being upgraded to include a host of new features, we've just finished one of the story arcs, and will be starting the next when the site is back up. Its a very active site, with hundreds of active users. Check it out sometime. In the meantime, I'm looking for somewhere else I can RP untill its back up. -Iviv

Replying to iGuestThe link for a forum based RPG set in the Halo universe is at the bottom. It centers around the Marines of Sierra Company, right now the campaign is set just months before the beggining of the Human-Covenant war. We desperatly need more people. Are they similar? (3) Some may think browser-based games are one of those "fast-yet-downloadless" kind of games. You get

both of these games are very simple and they do not require extensive production times. They can be
