| | First attempt at a stop motion animation with my Sony Handycam. Basically, it's a smaller can being bullied by a larger can, and the smaller can crushing the larger can with a Darth Vader type force choke.

and get a better quality version here:
big version (2.3 megs): http://herbert.astahost.com/vids/ca.wmv
Hopefully I will make something more advanced now that I've learned how to use the camcorder a bit better |

This is pretty good! Have you considered using clay for your future stop-motion animation? A lot of people do this kind of clay-mation.

I was going to post a video of some stop animation I did a while back but for some reason after I upload the vid and try to play it it gets the error in WMP. When I play it off the hard drive it works fine. Does anyone know what the problem is?

Herbert, that funny. Nice job on the can choking... Are you sure you're not a trashman like me??? I like your website and the recreation of the old style silent movies. Good job. Nils

Hey everyone, I appreciate all the positive feedback. Yes I've been to knoxskorner.com. It has some very funny stuff I've just started out in stop motion (mostly because this is the first camera that I've had that could do it), and I'm very interested in trying some cool stuff out. I'll have to see what I can do I haven't tried clay yet. I was thinking more along the lines of using action figures... I can't find the one that inspired me... It had two Crash Test Dummies. One was putting a floppy disk into a drive and it flew out and cut his head off, and the second ran off yelling... It was someone's sig in one of the forums I go on... Was it someone in here? But if you people really want to see some impressive stop-motion animation, I recommend Charley Bowers. He was a silent comedian and cartoonist. His effects are incredible. I've included a clip of Model T's hatching out of eggs: http://herbert.astahost.com/vids/bowers1.wmvRightclick -> save as

Oh the possibilities are endless, but the trick is to find something that you can give human qualities to. Like the can had the tab to raise to crush the other can a la Darth Vader... I'll have to see what I have

QUOTE(Herbert @ Feb 20 2005, 05:42 AM) Yea I just saw Constantine Friday night. It felt like they threw in special effect bits for the heck of it. If they would just tone it down a bit and quit making scenes that scream "HEY LOOK AT OUR BIG BUDGET" and use the CGI for making real effects just a bit cooler.... Like take my can smashing effect, and throw in a 3D background to give the scene some flavor. I'm having trouble finding inspiration for a new animation. Any ideas using household objects that I could use? I imagine that anything joints or positional parts could work. Desk lamps, vacuum cleaners etc. What do you have lying around? Your possibilities are probably endless.

Hmm... How about pieces of paper? You could draw on it too, or rip it and restore it in your movie? That reminds me, I've seen some claymations where the person in the movie does magic tricks. You could do something like that. For example, you can destroy something and make it come out of your mouth.

It's good to see that there are a few people out there who can appreciate a means animation that doesn't involve CG which in my oppinion is very overrated and over used. I just can't help but think that special effects as they are now, are ruining movies as audiences and hollywood alike seem to be in the stuck in the "big effects budget=Good movie" mindset. Give me 'Chicken Run' over 'A Shark's Tale' any day.

Looping A Flash Animation Certain Times?
also sound syncing. (0) Ok, I am creating a short flash movie and I need some help. My first two frames is my loader, a
basic, "IfFrameLoaded; Goto" type function. The next 9 frames is a small animation that I want to

of the things he did in his life and I bought a dvd with early animation shorts he did, some of
which are amazing even to today's standards. Winsor McCay, to put it simply, did it "the hard
