It just looks like an iMac look-alike ... I still rather get an iMac over a Dell since it's a Dell and Dells tend to be crappy. xboxrulz

It still looks like a iMac wannabe for me and since it's a DELL I would still stay clear of it. iMacs also come with a built-in stereo and an iSight webcam. These are quite standard. xboxrulz

Is there a reason you are bashing on Dells? As far as I've seen and heard dell's are perfectly fine, and I've heard the XPS systems are usually pretty solid gaming wise so I can't see it being a horrible choice. On the other hand, you shouldn't choose a system to buy if you need to ask people about it AFTER choosing it, you should research it and others first then make an informed decision As far as it looking like an imac clone, meh, if you like the look it doesn't matter if they stole the design or not haha, and as far as actually getting a mac that opens a whole other set of things to consider so yea, I'd say you should research more before you solidly decide which system to purchase.

There is because most of the computers I have repaired are Dells and they break down the fastest. Their drivers sometimes don't work and it gets really messy after a while. It's the biggest pain in the butt systems to repair. Acer and HP are other brands that I have fixed in the past but never had trouble fixing them because they don't fall apart that fast and they have a great driver repository that I know works perfectly and their drivers are constantly updated. (Apparently throughout the years in my highschool, I have replaced the IT team for repairing laptops around the school. People just come to me for laptop repairs and consultation. I never chose to replace them but that was how it worked.) xboxrulz

I work on Macs all day long and love them, but lets not put down the Dell XPS One to strongly yet. I hope that Dell did a better job then Apple did on the iMac. Check out the reports on the monitor issues that seems to be prevalent on quite a few iMacs. I considered purchasing one till I did some research. Just read about a Class Action Suit dealing with a Apple monitor issue on the MacBook and the MacBook Pro. From the way its going the iMac monitor issues won't be too far behind. Bottom line, Apple has its problems too. -reply by Wildman

Andlinux Behaves Strangely On Dell Inspiron 1501 Laptop
(0) I installed andLinux on this Dell laptop and as soon as you start any Linux app it gets flooded with
a bunch of equal signs (as you can see in the videoclip below), I have no idea why. Remember, nobody
is keying in one equal sign every second. It's just the weird behavior of this laptop. I have
successfully installed andLinux on other PCs and it works as expected. I first suspected that it
would be a keylogger or some such malware, but I scanned the laptop for viruses, spyware and
rootkits and it came out clean. Here's the videoclip. http://dserban01.googlepag....
Create The Beautiful Reflections Used By Apple.com
(6) Ok, if you have ever browsed apple.com, you see they have great reflections to show off their
hardware/software/etc. In this tutorial I will show you all how to make a great reflection. Step
one: Workspace First you need to find what you are reflecting, and be sure that it is already
cut out (no background). This works especially well with a screenshot of their program iTunes, so
that is what I will demonstrate with. Now, create a new file that is able to support double the
height of the object. Step 2: Fill and Copy Object Fill the background with any colo....
Beautiful Technology At Work - Inside A Hard Drive, While It's Running
(4) Newer drives intentionally lower the armature/actuator speed to decrease noise, which can sometimes
affect drive performance, but to be honest, I kind of miss hearing the click-click-click of the days
of old. Besides, if you can't hear the drive, it also means you can't hear the drive
failing; the noise produced by most hard drives is meaningful and useful.

Dell Hails 2008 As The Year Of The Corporate Linux Desktop
(2) Just found this on digg: http://www.vnunet.com/vnunet/news/2196193/...corporate-linux QUOTE
The advent of desktop virtualisation will provide the missing link for Linux to shine on the
corporate desktop, Dell chief technology officer Kevin Kettler predicted in a keynote speech at the
Linuxworld conference in San Francisco. "A lot of people are predicting that next year could be the
year where we really see an explosive growth of Linux on the desktop in business applications, "
Kettler told delegates. At the bottom of the article there is a link to a video of....
Hints Point That Dell Will Be Pre-installing Ubuntu Soon!
(22) Most of you already know that Dell is going to possibly (keyword) be pre-installing Linux on select
versions of it's computers. On Digg, released about a day ago and has since been removed, and
image on Dell's website
(http://www.dell.com/content/topics/segtopic.aspx/unbuntu?c=us&cs=19&l=en&) showed that Ubuntu would
officially be the first pre-installed Linux OS ever to be pre-installed by an OEM. In Dell's
support website, there's even an article on how to install Ubuntu on your Dell computer.

How To Change The Color Of The Leds On A Dell Xps System
(9) I happen to find this by accident when trying to fix my computer, but anyways In this tutorial I
will show you how to change the LED colors on your Dell XPS system may it be either laptop or
Desktop, you will be able to get rid of that red color and change it to 16 other colors. This is a
simple process and you don't hae to worry about messing anything up, but what is also neat is
that (at least on the laptop) you can have 4 different colors going on at once. Step 1: If you
have your computer running then go ahead and restart it. Step 2: during the load up sc....

Dell Computer "shuts Down" When Opening Email
(31) I have a Dell Optiplex GX 270 computer here and the problem is that it shuts down randomly when
viewing email in Outlook. It doesn't seem to do this when doing anything else online. Could a
network cause issue this kind of problem? I'm going to see if the other machines are doing this
as well. The funny thing is that the machine itself still seems to be running. The light on the
monitor is orange, but the computer's light is green and the fan is still spinning in the back.
These Optiplex machines have the 4 LED lights in the back to show any error alerts (if....
Laptop Overheating
Problem with Dell 600m (15) One of my friends has a Dell 600m which he bought around the same time as me. We pretty much have
the exact same specs, but my processor and video memory is a little better. He has been having
problems since the time he got the laptop with it overheating to the point of it locking down.
I'll agree that the Dell 600m's from the Summer of 2003 will get way too hot for normal
laptop use. My laptop has only locked up once or twice for me because of it overheating, but his
computer will lock up every time he doesn't have it on a cooling pad. And even then the....

Dell And Alienware Merge
When is a good time to buy a Alienware product? (3) Hello everyone, I had an earlier post that talked about the Alienware computer that I was going to
get. But, since then Dell and Alienware merged. Which I believe might lower the prices of
Alienware products eventually. So does anyone know if I should wait to see if Alienware lowers
their prices for computers, if so how long would you suggest I wait before making a purchase from
them? Or should I just go ahead and buy a product from them, assuming the fact that their prices
will not lower anyway. Please give my info on my situation if you can, thanks in advance.......

Dell Axim Pocket PC Questions
(10) Hi, I bought a Dell Axim X30 last week (didn't arrive here yet) and have a couple of questions
to ask. 1. Can the Pocket PC run any regular Windows programs? I was told that it can't and
just want to confirm this. 2. I created a program in Visual Basic and want to use this on this PDA.
How should I convert it so that it works on Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition (that's the
operating system it will come with)? Or what programming language does it accept? 3. This question
has been bothering me a little. Will turning the PDA on and off frequently damage....
Dell, Windows, Or Me?
Weird problem with speakers.... (7) Ok, I've had this problem for about a year. I've tried every single configuration offered
by the BIOS, Windows, and even the hardware itself, but my speaker's refuse to be balanced!
Though Windows says they are, I know my speaker's are unbalanced. The right is louder than the
left. I have absolutely no clue what's wrong with it, so here's system specs:
Manufacturer: Dell Model: Dimension 4600 Processor: Pentium 4 with Hyperthreading @ 2.4 Ghz RAM:
512 MB HDD: 111 GB Windows Partition | 9 GB Dell Partition Speakers: Harmon/Kardon Stereo ....
