could you further explain the shutdown part? did you see the shutdown screen that says windows is now shutting down etc? or did it the whole computer just suddenly go off? did the monitor go off too?

maybe is because an error from some program... right click My Computer .. Open the Advanced tab under Startup and Recovery, select Settings. System Failure, remove the check from Automatically restart.

Since you did not state anything that could be useful to be analyzed why your computer has shut down, these are some of the possibilites: Power Flactuation You were remotely shutdown by someone unauthorized from your system(hacked) Fatal Application Error Something accidentally pressed the restart/power button of your PC. A malicious program hidden in your system that executed because of something you did that triggered it. Overheat Hardware failure Condensation inside your box A possible short circuit somewhere in your system You accidentally pressed a shortcut button/key that can restart/shutdown your computer. Hope this helps, sorry about this, cannot have an accurate diagnosis of your problem since you didn't really emphasize and elaborate your problem well.

Just a simple consideration, Is it possible that your computer got MS blaster(I do not know what kind OS you use). MS Service Pack to is quit good to solve those old window problems and bugs, I have fix at least 3 computers problem with that. But somebody wondering, that will make more trouble for the computer. Whatever, just a simple suggestion.

i had this problem a while back, i did everything suggested here but it still wouldnt stop shutting down, it did it every few mins and was really annoying. i ran ad aware, pc bug doctor, blaster fix, instaled critical updates, clean the registry and even did a system restore and it still did it, in the end i installed a firewall and its never done it since...

Write that comand when the message apears.... + download the patch from microsoft ( its sumthing like "blaster Worm" thing ..) u will find it ....

Hmm alot of peeps facing this problem ... its start when a error message appears and tel "u'l comp will shut down after 60 seconds" this is called blaster Worm ... U can stop IT By downloading a patch From microsoft.com... adn If u r 2 lazy to Download it then jus Do this 1) Go to "start menue" 2) Clik on "Run" 3) and write coamand " shutdown /a " $) press "ok" this will prevent u'r computer ..... + I have a fix blast which search this worm from u'r computer and delete it I found it in Cd .. ( above two methods will suffiecent to prevent it) but if u are Not still satisfied then message me I'll send the fix blast to u...

Im having this problem, i am trying to find relevant stuff to it, like it only happens if a sound is played in MSN Messenger (Plus) i cant figure out why, it started when i got broadband and i downloaded plus, its really annyoing, anbody help? I isnt a virus, and my CPU isnt overheating, and i cant find this Auto Restart thingy. Its really annoying.

when you get a window that says something like: error of program x, closing in 60 seconds, you can stop the pc from shutting down. like that, you can relax to find a solution to the problem: 1. press windows key +R and type cmd or just open a command prompt the way you usually do it 2. type this : shutdown /a this will cancel the shutdown and you'll have all the time to search the internet for a solution for your problem. marijn

Computer Not Boot Up

Computer Microphone
(3) I have a computer headset that connects to my sound card. One connects to the audio and the other to
the mic. They both work but the only problem is that when i use the mic the voice on it comes out
soo extremely soft that you would have to turn your speakers on all the way just to barely hear it.
I checked the software that came with my soundcard which is a soundblaster X16 Live card btw. I
just want to be able to turn the volume up on it so i can use my microphone. Please pst if there are

Old Computer in need of a new OS
(15) Ok, well I have an old computer...it is a Pentium 166Mhz computer with 128MB of ram, a 20GB hard

Computer Bugs
I've never seen anything this primative with PCs... (9) My PC had been making strange noises and running slower, so I assumed it was time to clean the
fan/cooling fins. I opened the side panel thing to see cockroaches coming in and out of an open PCI
slot. So I got a PCI slot cover. When I moved the PC to my desk I found it look about like rat's
nest inside. Roaches were swarming the PC Fan, Cards, Disk Drives, Power Supply, etc. Probably
hundreds maybe a thousand. I've never seen so dusty a CPU fan in my life, the all the cooling

Computer Overheating
(3) I am pretty sure my computer is overheating as it averages 70 C when idling, after I cleaned the fan
out with a vacuum cleaner. I am not sure this is average for a 3.0 GHz Intel Pentium 4 processor
but I'm sure it isn't as my laptop hovers around 40 C. The hard disk in it recently stopped
working and I was wondering if it could have overheated as well and if there is anything I can do to
restore the files off it or at least get the (or some) files of it. Any recomendations for a new

Dell Computer "shuts Down" When Opening Email
(31) I have a Dell Optiplex GX 270 computer here and the problem is that it shuts down randomly when
viewing email in Outlook. It doesn't seem to do this when doing anything else online. Could a
network cause issue this kind of problem? I'm going to see if the other machines are doing this
as well. The funny thing is that the machine itself still seems to be running. The light on the
monitor is orange, but the computer's light is green and the fan is still spinning in the back.

Computer Suddenly Turning Off
Well it seems my computer doesn't like me. Sad huh? (26) My computer has been acting in a weird way for some time, and I don't remember doing anything
that could cause this hardware-wise. I'll try to describe it: After some time powered on, the
system suddenly *poof* shuts down in a harsh way. I press the Power button but it doesn't turn

Advice On Upgrade A Computer For Image Processing
(1) Hello all, I need to upgrade a computer to increase its performance for image processing with adobe
photoshop cs. The problem I have is because digital pro-images are quite large (12megapixel) the
computer totally slow down when opening, aplying a modification,etc.. anything you do will take a
long time. The actual computer is a AMD athlon 64 +3400 with 1Gb of RAM. Graphics card is nVidia

Shutdown Keyboard
(2) I've never heard about a keyboard that shuts the pc by pressing the CAPS LOCK key. Well the
keyboard isn't one of a specific brand but what he really does is shuting down the system.
Severall days ago a person asked my for help. Its seems that he cant do anything with the pc, and he

Adding More IDE Ports In Computer
(18) Hi, is there any way I can add more IDE ports to my computer? I'm building a computer from
scratch and it's basically done. Just want to know how I can add more IDE ports since I plan on

My Summer Is Ruined!
Please help, computer down (8) Ok, I was playing Age of Mythology on my computer and then suddenly my computer shut down. I had no
idea what happened. Me and my brother opened the CPU (the big rectangle thing) and started to check
each component. When we turn on the computer, there is nothing on the monitor, also, there are no
sounds, and the hard-drive is not spinning (guessing from it's sound). Does anyone know how to
