QUOTE A personal computer is made up of multiple physical components of computer hardware, upon which can be installed an operating system and a multitude of software to perform the operator's desired functions. Motherboard
The motherboard is the "body"[citation needed] of the computer. Components directly attached to the motherboard include:
* The central processing unit (CPU) performs most of the calculations which enable a computer to function, and is sometimes referred to as the "brain" of the computer. It is usually cooled by a heat sink and fan. * The chipset mediates communication between the CPU and the other components of the system, including main memory. * RAM Stores all running processes (applications) and the current running OS. RAM Stands for Random Access Memory * The BIOS includes boot firmware and power management. The Basic Input Output System tasks are handled by operating system drivers. * Internal Buses connect the CPU to various internal components and to expansion cards for graphics and sound.

Hi, bachan1, Thanks for your nice topic. You simply forgot to mention that it is copied from "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer_hardware" You know, posting copied topic is not really forbidden on our forums. Simply, politeness asks that you mention where it is copied from. And honesty asks that you put the copied text between quote tags. I did the quoting job for you today. Next time, I expect you to do the job by yourself. Else, we could think that you are trying to cheat with the hosting credit system, which makes some admins around here rather angry.

- Well it seems my computer doesn't like me. Sad huh? (27)
My computer has been acting in a weird way for some time, and I don't remember doing anything
that could cause this hardware-wise. I'll try to describe it: After some time powered on, the
system suddenly *poof* shuts down in a harsh way. I press the Power button but it doesn't turn
on. Then, I remove the power cable from it's back, wait for some hour(s) and turn it on ok,
until it turns off again. I'd risk also to say that the 'uptime' I get after a shutdown
is somehow proportional to the time I left the power cable off it. Some would say it&...

Ipod Hardware And Software Question

I had a problem with my 40GB 4th Generation iPod. It was giving me the sad iPod icon. I tried
restoring it to factory default but it wasn't even detected. So I opened up the iPod and tried
reseating all the cables. I wasn't paying attention and forced the hard drive cable in (I know,
stupid thing to do especially for me). I'm usually more careful, but now the extra "pin" (maybe
a ground) at the end is broken and stuck into the wrong side of the hard drive. I put it in the
correct way now minus that "ground" pin at the end (which is still stuck on the other si...

the board took PCIE or AGP graphix cards, he told me they took AGP, of course i then went and bought
an AGP card (Winfast A6600GT 128m). Is there no way that i can use my AGP card (short of buying a

New Computer

Ok well we are considering purchasing a new computer. We've looked at a few different options,
mainly Dell. Some of the features are already decided, like this: Windows Vista Home Premium 2GB
RAM At least 320 GB hard drive 22" wide-screen monitor The graphics card and sound card
aren't really such a big deal, we do not use this PC for gaming/video-editing anyways. The PC
will primarily used for Office applications, web development, general Internet/email use, watching
DVDs and learning about Windows Vista (I can't wait to use User Account Control!). The...

nest inside. Roaches were swarming the PC Fan, Cards, Disk Drives, Power Supply, etc. Probably
hundreds maybe a thousand. I've never seen so dusty a CPU fan in my life, the all the cooling
fins were totally covered in dust and crap. I cleaned the fins and the fan. Its runnin...

the same time getting something that won't be totally obsolete in a couple years. Also i would
like it to be upgradeable in the event that in the future, say a 3d graphics program star...
