| | Basically, I really want to use my Fedora Core installation but my USB ADSL Accessrunner modem doens't compat with any version of Linux. I was just wondering if there was a cheap ADSL modem, either internal or external, which compats with Linux easily and where it can be bought cheaply in the UK.

Take a look at this site: LinuxCompatible.Org - they've got a comprehensive list of hardware compatible with the various versions/distributions of linux. As also this site: NetComm.Com.Au - they've got a wide range of modems/routers/switches compatible with all versions of Linux (or so they claim).

Simply don't buy USB or internal modems. They might and they might not have drivers for linux. And there might be drivers fro Fedore/Rad Hat but what happends if you want to change OS? Instead go for a router that is connected to your computer with ethernet cable. You won't need any drivers on any OS. These devices are a tad more pricey but they are worth it. In addition to being compatible with all OSs they are usually of better make otherwise. Believe me... I've had more than a fair share of problems with USB/internal modems...

if you go for a router i suggest WRT54G it has linux on it and you can use other firmwares and make it work ultra fast and no need of drivers as Hercco said

I thought this would be the best place to post this link that was sent to me www.lumenlab.com I
read through some of the forum posts on their site and was really impressed by the quality of some
of the images they were producing on their own homemade projectors. For a fraction of what an actual
commercial projector costs (upwards of 5000 $ I hear) one can produce their own quality one. I might
think of buying the guide from the website. It says on their website that building a descent one
costs 400$ with new components and all....

My current motherboard: MSI 865PE NEO 2 MS-6728 Ver.1 I've done quite a few tests and it's

Need Help With Dial-up Modem
- (8)
When my computer was rebuilt, the guy didn't put in a place for a dial-up connection. That was
all well and good before, as I had cable internet. But now I can't afford cable so I am back to
dial-up. So, I grabbed on of my dead computers from the closet and took out one of the dial-up
modem thingys. I put it in, (oh, Windows XP by the way), and my computer said it found new
hardware- win lucent modem. So, I get on AOL (don't blast me for that, my girlfriend wants it),
and try to set up a new location, but the darn thing can't find it. The computer s...
Intel Core 2 Duo
- (10)
For those die hard AMD fans out there, it looks like Intel is set to take the lead with its Core 2
Duo due to be out sometime in July. Thus far it has thrashed an overclocked AMD FX 60 and has much
lower power consumption. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Core_2 So if you are thinking of buying a
new pc, might want to hold off for this one...read many reviews about it and it is promising. And
if you have an AMD already don't bother shelling out for an AM2 setup which gives DDR2
support...apparently it doesn't help performance eat all. Just stick with the socket ...

Dual Core G5's Works Wonders On 3D Graphics Render

We just added six new Dual Core G5 Macs at our office. Each system is like having 4x2.3Ghz chips
and the systems scream. Three went to our 3D animation (lightwave 3d Users) and the other three to
video editing/rendering tasks. These things scream and the price tag wasn't too bad either
(3500 each). Light wave folks picked up 55% performance boost rendering their output and the FCP
editors love the systems. They don't have to send their smaller tasks to the Grid anymore, they
can render in their booth while taking a long lunch, or midnight snack in some cas...
