Can Two System Share Microsoft Office - eg. client run Excel from server

jedipi
Dear all,
I wanna share a copy of Microsoft office in more than two system.
What I am think is, install microsoft Office in a Server. then other
client system can run the application such Work and Excel remotely.
So that, Office suit do not required to be installed in every client system.

Is that possible? is there any other 3rd party software needed?

Well if you are looking because of licacning issues and if you dont have limitations you can always do a console remote login on one system and get you work done from the PC MS Office is installed.

If the probelm is licencing ..ie you dont have a licence for the second machine...or are willing for a cheaper solution (assuming you are a good citizen and dont use pirated stuff ..even if it measn paying the evil corp some dollars ) why not try open office ....i use it all the time and its kick ass smile.gif

LEGALLY you'd have to have multiple licenses (1 per computer/cpu however MS does it) and the way you're talking (server/client) you'd want an application server.

An application server is a server that applications are installed on (duh!) and are "virtually" installed on client machines. However, you'd need to have the correct number of licenses from MS.

But take hatim's advice and go with openoffice. I use it side by side with my office xp (I prefer office xp over 2003) and I got my friend to even use OpenOffice because he didn't want to pay for a stupid MS office license.

btw, I'm on the marketing project of OpenOffice so I'd better tell you to use OpenOffice! tongue.gif
