How To Bypass The Disabling Of Right-clicking In Pages.

The convienient way:

Right Click on anywhere in the page and hold it down. Wait for the rightclick is disabled message to come out, still holding the right mouse button. Once the messagebox comes up, use the left mouse button to click on OK, still holding the right mouse button. Move the mouse to anywhere in the page and release the right mouse button. Tada! Your right click menu is up!

The not so convienient way:

If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer, Click on Tools, and then Internet Options.
Click on the Security Tab and then set the security level to CUSTOM.
Scroll down the options in the custom security box until you see Scripting. At the Active Scripting radio button, click disable and then the right click menu will be available when you right click but after you finished doing all your right clicking, remember to set it back so that Javascript will be enabled when you surf other sites.

In Opera, site prefences (right click on any page) then scripting and it's off by default.

I don't see a use for websites to disable the right click button. If people browsing the internet want to copy stuff from you, they can do it anyway by pressing View Source in the menu?

And sometimes the first way doesn't work, because there are scripts that just return a null value when you right click, so it doesnt do anything.

I agree with Matsy any smart person would just view the source from the file menu or if you have firefox and downloaded the plug-ins that I mentioned in a post of mine you can do it that way as well.

But I did see a site or 2 that have completely disable the viewing of the source code including the menu version. Don't ask me how it was done, maybe server side or php. But it has been done.

I think it's quite easier than what you say.

You can do thise two things:

1. Just select the text you want to copy, click on "Edit" menu and then select "Copy".

2. Copy your text and then hit the menu key on your keyboard (between the windows logo and the right ctrl).

@saint-michael: the page source code cannot be hidden nor disabled, else your browser could not draw it's content...

In my opinion anything "sacred enough" to be completely protected from right click and protected from view source shouldn't be on a website anyways. Its pointless.

A very simple way to get still images is to take a screen shot by pressing the Print Screen button on the keyboard, then opening up MS paint and pasting it. Next, select the general area of where the image is, and go to edit --> cut. Now open up your favorite imaging program, or another instance of MS Paint, paste it, and crop it down to the size you like.

Of course, if the image is copyrighted, I don't recommend doing this. It also doesn't get animated .gif's. Thanks ruijie, for the other two ways.

I can't exactly remeber but doesn't firefox have a features that bypasses those JavaScript restriction systems. Also, if browsers read htm content then isn't their a way to always be able to rip content even if view source code is disabled. I can't remember as of right now so maybe someone here knows.

There's an even simpler way to bypass them in Firefox. Do nothing.
Firefox ignores those scripts and shows the menu anyway. The popup still shows up, though. These scripts are really useless. They are usually meant for protection against people who want to look at the page's source code, but if a person is skilled enough to even want to look at the source code, they would probably know many ways to bypass the script.

Yeah this is indeed useless and just a waste of bandwidth of whoever thinks that this is really cool. Saint-michael said it was done somehow, but I don't see how it could be done (the disable of menu view source option) by a server side way or php.. I would like to see a website like that with my eyes, only then I would believe you, but if you browsed with IE it might of been something what only works with IE.

Well, if you really wanted to turn people away from looking at your source code, you could just appeal to their laziness and parse your source code for all newlines so that the whole html file is all on one line. Of course if they had the patience to put in the line breaks and examine your source code, kudos to them. I sure don't. wink.gif
