Google is like any other internet company, except they don't use spyware to track what you've been doing. Spyware is designed just to find out what you've been doing, and what ads to send you. Google just uses what you do on theier site. They are so popular that they have to floodyour computer with spyware to get you to notice them ad their ads. I don't mind a computer scanning my e-mail. It's not like some pervert or thief is sitting at a computer at the "Googleplex" reading all my e-mail, and watching my every search.

Companies pay google good money for the effectiveness of their adWords ad targeting system. This system is not only deadly accurate, but it dosn't effect your computer in anyway. Some websites put these adWords ads on their pages, and their down the right side of your google searches. This is the main reason for watching your searches. It is all about statistics and switching from keyword targeted ads to content targeted ads.

I will continue to use gmail and all the other google services offered at http://www.google.com/!

I think it's absolutely fair to criticise any company or corporation. Especially one that is growing as quickly and as dangerously as Google. We are in danger of having monopolies in the computer market, and we have to balance the power. This cookies mumbo jumbo may or may not be true, to be honest it doesn't matter, all that matters is that at the end of the day Google can't stay this strong forever with it's sustained growth and we should find ways to prevent them from being too powerful. After all, the reason people used it in the first place was becuase it was an alternative to the 'Big Guns' like Microsoft and Yahoo. It is in danger of losing some fans because of it's commercialisation and becomming a PLC etc.

So whats the answer? Just like any other company googles main aim is to make money, which it does very well. In capatilism becoming a monopoly is what all companies would love to become.

That is funny. I never knew that, but it would make sence that they wouldn't ever

delete anything since why would they have to when they give out 2 gigs of space

so you know they have unlimited bw and space. Any actualy know how much

space google has or how many gmail accounts are out there? Yes their main aim

is to get money. If that wasn't it then why would they do it and spend so much

money on it?

Yes every company dreams of being huge and making tons of money etc etc.

The solution is to even out the playing field so that everyone benefits. We will always have a leader, regarless of the field and regarless of by how much. If we have a strong google, then it will stop other companies from growing, and it will stop the competition. Without a strong AMD we wouldn't have a strong Intel. Without a strong Yahoo we wouldn't have a strong Microsoft etc.

Again, how would this be accomplised? The playing field is determined by who produces the best product, as long as thats google they will continue to dominate.

Wow, I didn't think Google was doing all of these; I still don't care though. Once Google's main page is full of spyware and viruses, then I'll find another search engine. (www.alltheweb.com is just like Google)

It's a lot of stuff for a company to keep:)sure... they won't use it personally though-it's just for targeted advertising. It shouldn't worry anyone..

I read that as well. But its hard to get a serious impression from someone who makes their webpages like that. Dont really give out the impression of knowledge when their site looks like it does. Anyway, theres another site, called http://www.google-watch-watch.org.

And since the authors motive for making this site was because he had gotten a bad google rank, not a big bomb looking at his site...

Anyway, you shouldnt really trust google with sensitive information, but you seriosuly shouldnt trust the auther of google-watch.org.
