I did not even realize it but, today I've upped my credits 6 points. I have had my account for the past couple of weeks but sunk below negative last week. I am still learning about the PostForHost ideology, and its an adjustment process. However, I love the concept. It keeps one involved and interested. I recall reading a review on Sun's development site (http://java.sun.com). It was more of a sociological piece than technical literature. The article's overall theme was that the Internet, as a commercial tool and global network, was moving towards an "Age of Participation." The so-called progression from the ubiquitous Information Age to Participation Age. The Participation Age will be driven by mass feedback and intellectual input; as opposed to the Information Age, which tend to celebrate and revolve around the inventions and innovations of individuals. I suppose some examples would be Napster or the development of the MP 3 compression technology, which are static "inventions" of individuals. A contemporary product of the so-called Participation Age is the success of youtube.com. The technology of being able to share video via the www platform is not necessarily ground breaking. Granted, the developers of the web site are apt and skillful people who utilize very strong video compression, their success belongs to the masses that contribute countless video files all around the globe. I shall not "blabber" anymore, I simply wanted to say that I really dig the concept of participation on a mass scale. Astahost is very progressive and cutting-edge to be able to try something like this. I am still on my learning trail of Apache Tomcat/JSP deployment. Now that my account is accessible, I will try to deploy some sample JSP code. I am now learning more about CPanel (Astahost's account manager). I believe I must study the area of "Apache Handlers" I guess I have to define global extensions, such as .jar / .war / .java so Apache can pass these files to the Jasper JSP engine. More to come, thank you for your participation. - Demirelli

Hi Demirelli, Wish you luck on your learning track, if you can share more tutorial links, and articles and codes, it would be way more helpfull. Also you will get some more points at Asta host .

Soundtrack Back To Avi With Black Screen
(1) I have an mp3 file which is the soundtrack of a movie, and I also have subtitles for that movie (a
file with the .srt extension). The requirement is to convert the mp3 file to an AVI file, so that it

Linux And Windows Partitions
Sharing files back and forth (2) Introduction Ok so many of you that use Linux, you probably have Windows installed also,
probably on another partition (an exception is using Wubi). There is a problem that exists with
Linux having read-only access to NTFS partitions. A solution to this is to install NTFS-3G or a
similar package/application, but this only solves half of the problem. The other half of the
problem is Windows not being able to read an ext2/ext3 partition. If you check your partitions in
Disk Management, Windows has absolutely zero support for ext3/ext2/linux-swap partitions, displ....

If Business Meetings Were Like Internet Comment Systems
(0) What happens if participants in a business meeting behave like Internet commenters? It's funny
because it's so true. 90% of the comments people make in forums etc. would not be made in real
life, where other people could (in theory at least) actually retaliate physically or at least
identify the person making the comment. Warning: crude language.

Restoring Back-up
...from another domain (0) I extracted a back-up from my sql tables from another phpBB forum, I made a back up of the skin, and
that's it. Does anyone have an idea what to do next in order to point the url's to my
current astahost subdomain? So that it might work again, or is this out of the question? Restoring
the tables works, with the skin, but then everything points to the old, closed domain. ***Edit***

install the used skin on the back (note to self: never make a back-up with a modded styl....

Just The Forum Lured Me Back!

bucked up credits and was a proud owner of a Standard Hosting Account. But due to unavoidable

As the rules say, my account was priorly suspended and later deleted when my credits went way down
to -30. As of today, the fact remains that I occupy myself in other activities to the extent of
not being able to administer a website. But I have had an experience of posting at Astah....

I'm Interested In Creating A Video Manipulation Program...
Exporting frames to bitmaps and back again (3) I'm currently interested in developing a specific video manipulation program. What I would like
it to: - take a video clip, export the frames as individual bitmaps - create clips from a series
of bitmaps (saved as 001.bmp, 002.bmp, etc) or other images - allow for editing of time (ei how
long to show each frame/image) Ideally, this program would allow for some of the coding to be
written up before hand in a txt file to take advantage of copying the numerous, numerous file
locations for the images and the timing and editing the file in Word or something. Since I....
