| | Apparently the batteries used for powermac and ibooks in 2003 may also have the exploding trick up their sleeves. These batteries, like Dell's, were made by Sony Corp.

It's the Sony batteries @ fault. The G4 models of Apple's notebooks were one of their most successful stories before the iPod came along and made carrying a white soapbar with a wheel cool. How does the recall actually work? Do you get a replacement battery immediately when you return the old flammable one, or does one have to return the entire notebook as well?

Depends on where you are in the world. Here is the site: https://support.apple.com/ibook_powerbook/batteryexchange/There you enter the battery's serial number. If it's from the bad lot, they just send you a new one. What sucks is that you can't go to an Apple store, if there is one near by, and just exchange the battery or anything else. That is one of my complaints with the retail store. I had a friend that had a keyboard go bad. She took it back to the store and had to wait three days for one to arrive in the mail. They wanted to give her a "refurbished" keyboard. You know things like that is going to happen, so why doesn't the Apple store stock five or ten at any given time since the same keyboard is used on all the desktop models. Also I had one of those nice snow white iBooks that went through 5 logic boards. But I did get more video ram, better CD burner, and OS 10.3 for free because of it. Mine was one of the computers affected (G4 TiBook) so I should get a new battery in a day or two. Works for me, as I was going to have to think about buying a new one in the next year. Now I don't have too.

Ups Battery Backup
- (11)
I'm currently using a regular power surge protector for my computers. I have been thinking of
buying a UPS battery backup instead. Is there any big advantage over having a regular surge
protector? I mean, if I do get a surge, will the UPS backup still be in good condition for me to
shut my computer down properly? Most of the lower end UPS backups I've seen say the power run
time is 4-10 minutes long. Why does it take 4-8 hours to charge it up to 90% and give so little
power usage at the end? What should I look for in terms of joules, VA, and other terms I see be...
Laptop Battery Bay Damaged?
- (15)
I had my laptop for over a year and suddenly one day it won't hold the charge in the battery
anymore. So I thought it was a bad battery...sent it in to be repaired and the techs said it's
not the battery. Tested ok. They said it was the charging port. Warranty was over already so I dealt
with the issue...about 3 years now. I want to know how to repair this. Do I have to change the whole
motherboard to replace that battery compartment area? Or is there an easier way to do this? The
laptop is a Prostar 6194. Thanks....
Laptop Battery Question (Li-Ion)

Hey all, I own a Samung NV 5000 laptop and the battery could now only last for 30-45 minutes :s. I
read from here: Apple Notebook Batteries that it would be best to discharge your battery once a

month. Although I don't own a laptop notebook, it should be similar to all Lithium-ion
batteries, right? So my question is: how do you discharge a battery? xboxrulz...
Battery Types Of Mobile Phones
- (1)
Before continuing with my post, I must admit that this may not be the appropriate forum for posting
this topic, however, I couldn't find one that's why posting it here. There are four types
of batteries available for mobile phones: Nickel Cadmium (NiCd) These are least expensive of
rechargable batteries, but suffer from inherent shortcomings like memory effect. Here, if the
battery is not fully drained before recharging, the unused portion crystallizes hence the complete
capacity of the battery is not fully used. Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) This technolo...
