QUOTE(lacking_imagination @ Jan 18 2005, 07:47 PM) Sure, I use GameMaker. It is a great program.
I use rpg maker xp now i did use gamemaker but once i see the new rpg maker i quickly changed my mind. It has all the 3d graphics and every feature you need to get the job done.
Eh, I've tried it, but I don't really use it....it's a lot of work, but I think it'll be a heck of a lot easier than writing it in Java, although if it was in Java, I could put it on any computer....
Hmm.. I heard of Gamemaker, my friends used to use it then sell off the games for a bit of cash.
I don't really like this program, I'm big on 3d creation, and I didn't want to learn a "fake" programming language. I think it's good for people looking for a place to start, just not for me.
i think like you JaredLeto! i made a little game with it and i think its not soooo great! i like more to write programs and games on my own.. ok they are not sooo great as they woiuld be, if i had made them with gamemaker, but they are totally mine
I think it's for people who aren't serious about making games. You don't have THAT much power over what you do, and it's kind of hard to choose the layout you want. Also, if you've just made a game in c++, your going to feel alot more... prouder than if youve done it in gamemaker. If you want to make money, get a group of people together and make a game in java or c(++). If you want a fun, free game that people will play (and <- snipped -> ;-) ), make a browser game with python/perl/c-cgi and html. If you just wanna make a game, use gamemaker or QBASIC.}
Well, I downloaded a demo of it, and the next day I uninstalled it. I think ill just stick with flash. It actually lets me have 'some' control over what happens. I think ill pick up c+ again, tho. I like its usability. Thanks y'all

Anyone Use Gamemaker? Does anyone in here use yoyo game maker? My first time in making games here. I'm a bit stuck and struggling and I'm not sure whether that I need to know how to program? -Niki
I've been using GM for several years now, and to be honest I've enjoyed every minute of it. For the brand new programmer it offers simple drag-and-drop functionality, yet should you want to (and have the know-how) you can create some amazing programs. Many people underestimate it after they get bored of the simple games you start out making, but can you honestly say any other programming language is different? You start by learning the basics, then slowly move on to more advanced things. DLLs are available in all shapes and sizes, expanding its functionality even more.
Personally, I think the major perk of GM is its price. You can do a lot with the standard functions (even mimic some of the registered-only ones if you've got the patience to work out how Sure, it can't do some of the things other, more recognised languages can, but for $20 and a great introduction to the world of game programming I'm not arguing. Heck, even if you don't cough up the $20 you can do a whole range of things as it is. In short: it's a great little program for beginner programmers, and builds up to allow you to create nigh-on-professional games. That's my two pence, anyway.
I don't like it 'cause its hard to use, the best way is RPG MAKER XP more informations you can find here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RPG_Maker_XP
