After I installed firefox 1.0.1, there are 2 firefox shortcut

Those two shortcut are both pointing to a file, which is firefox.exe

Well they may both point to firefox.exe. To see exactly where the shortcut is pointing to, here is the proceedure.
  1. Right Click on the Shortcut.
  2. Left Click on Properties.
  3. Left Click on the Shortcut Tab.
    • Next to Target : is the location of the file being pointed to.
  4. If You Want to See the Target File, Left Click on Find Target.
The target file should be highlighted.

I'm not clear on the question?

If both shortcuts are pointing to the same file, then just delete one of them.
