There is a way! Download the K-Lite Codec Pack (The Full Version) and it will enable you to play .mov and .mp4 files in Windows Media Player. It also installs codecs for heaps of other video types like .rmvb (Real) There are heaps of places to download the K-Lite Codec Pack, search Google. I downloaded it from http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_Lite_Codec_Pack.htm. and it works well! Good Luck -jimmy

Hm, I never really paid attention to that but I probably have codecs to run .mov's in mp as well, I'll have to check and re-set my file associations if that is the case. I hate quicktime haha.

I'm not sure whether it was something I did wrong during installations, or something wrong with the pack itself, but the K-Lite Codec Pack never allowed me to play either QuickTime or Real movies on my Windows Media Player. I even tried the QuickTime Alternative and the Real Alternative applications but still... no use! If anyone has run into this same problem, it'd be greatly appreciated if they shared how they managed to solve it.

Screw Windows media player...VLC works much better to play all the formats you want to play. Also, it's based on ffmpeg as it's decoder, so it decodes a hell of a lot more formats than windows media player does out of the box, and you don't need to clog up your directshow filter chain with splitters and codecs to watch movies. I've actually never come across a video format that VLC couldn't manage to play at some level. Stick to using VLC and only use windows media player for playing DRM'd WMA/WMV files.

Real Player
(12) One of the dinosaurs of media playback, RealPlayer has been on the scene since 1995. Sometimes it
feels like it hasn't been updated since then, no matter what the version number says. Still,
RealPlayer 11 beta introduces a major new function and takes care of some frustrating bugs, making
it respectable once again. The player runs smoother than ever, which to some might not be saying
much, but if you haven't used it in years, the differences are dramatic. Now the free version of
the player has the ability to download videos from the Internet, including Flash-bas....

Linux Media Players With Good Media Libraries
(3) I recently changed my primary computer's OS from Win2k to Ubuntu Linux. I'm a big music fan
and I do all my music and video (including DVDs) playing with my computer. So in a way my computer
acts also as a "media centre". I have a lot of music in digital format and lot of CDs. For CD
playing Rhythmbox is just fine but for mp3s and such I've yet to find my favourite. By the way
on the Windows side I used Winamp5, which GUI and media library were just awesome. Good media
library is a must for me. For video I think I'm going to stick with Mplayer. So far I....

player does not show any menu bars etc when it starts playing video. hence I cannot reduce the size.
I have tried pressing Alt + enter looking through options like video size, zoom etc, but to no luck.
Even try uninstalling and reloading different version but in all case the problem persists. I have
used ver. 9, 10 11 (beta). All versions are giving problems. Any help is appreciated. ....
The Best Media Player?
(20) m trying to find a better media player than WMP, mainly for audio/music. Im trying to find one that
plays mp3's and mp4's, and if possible ogg and flac, but its not nessessary. ive tried VLC,
but it kept freezing on me everytime i made a playlist, possibly because i have too many
songs(1400+). winamp and itunes seem to be too bloated IMO, and WMP itself just lacks in playable
formats/features. Any recommendations? thanks in advance. My os is WIN XP =)....
Macromedia Flash Player 8
Do I have it, or don't I? (3) Is anybody else having a problem with Macromedia's Flash Player not being recognized by
various Web sites? I've been to several sites lately that tell me that I have to have the
latest Flash Player in order to view their "whatever" (YouTube.Com is one of these sites) yet when I
go to Macromedia (Adobe) they say "Congrats, you have the latest player" and their little animated

re-installed, with the same end results... Does anyone have any clues as to wh....

(34) Has anyone here tried Windows Media Player 11 Beta? It sounds quite good and i'm in the process

Anyone got any feedback on it? Is it good? Better than the previous versions? I've been using

DivX
Very good movie player, maybe best (9) Divx player plays almost all types of movie files including .avi. It plays them much better than a

I'm not sure. In my opinion it's the best vidio player out there right now. Here is where

Review: Amarok
The best Linux mp3 player available (1) About: For the uninitiated, Amarok is an mp3 player for Linux which uses the KDE libraries. IMO,
Amarok is the best player for Linux, and now with the new release (1.3.6) they've added even
more features. Features: Amarok has got more features than any player I know of (Winamp
included). The best feature (IMO) is downloading the lyrics of the song that is currently playing
(using the artist and album name) from lyrc.com.ar . In addition to that, it also downloads a
thumbnail of the album cover of the song currently playing from Amazon.com and it gets sto....
