Doesn't the MenuShow Delay just speed up the start menu, not really windows? I wouldn't set it to 0 if you have a slow computer because if you mouse over on the menubars it'll come up real fast which will make it slower because it has to load all that information. But if you have a fast computer and you're tired of waiting for the stuff to come out, go for it.

Interesting. I just defrag all the time. But I heard there is a way to devote hard drive space to become RAM. Is this true?

Nope and if there was a program it would be a dud. Maybe you're thinking of virtual memory? Virtual memory is not the same as RAM but its a rather HUGE temporary file located on the Hard Disk. Every computer needs memory but people can't just afford 1GB or 2GB of memory. Don't get me wrong though, if you have a 1GB PF space you don't have 1GB of RAM. Physical RAM is the actual RAM and its hudreds of times faster than the HDD.

QUOTE (daniel15 @ Sep 23 2004, 04:35 PM) Setting 'File System' to 'Network Server' makes your computer faster because it optimizes the file system. More data is cached when reading from the disk, so reading in files is faster. Does anyone know other ways to speed up my computer, as some of the stuff i do on it is really slow (Pentium II 350mHz w/Windows 98 SE) daniel Will there be other trade off setting the File System to "Network Server" when you are not really a network server? You mentioned that more data is cached when reading from the disk and thus will be faster. Some questions popped up in my mind as I just studied file management systerm. What I know is that you still have a fixed amout of cache in your computer, so caching more data doesn't make any sense as some other data in the cache will have to be removed from the cache for thie 'more data' to be written to the cache.
