best RPG? What Is The Best RPG You Have Ever Played Best RPG for me : -Final Fantasy 7 -Suikoden 2 I can't decide which is the best out of those 2.. Both of them have their own appeal.. they are both for PS1 console tho.. -reply by fritz
I think it would be Diablo 2. But There are many good one, like Dungeon Siege, Gothic 2, Sacred...

 I would consider Final Fantasy 7-10 and along with Zelda, the best rpgs
Im a fan of diablo II and its expansion. I also like Dungeon Seige II, played the demo and it was pretty fun. Never played any MMORPGs because they cost per month. Maybe Guild Wars will change my mind though because it doesn't cost per month.
My all time favorite rpg is, yes, Final Fantasy 8....ahh how I love Rhinoa
Yeah I'm also looking forward to Guild Wars. I played Diablo II and liked it, and I'm playing World of Warcraft right now which I'm getting tired of paying for. I like diablo 2, neverwinter nights, baldur's gate, fallout, fallout 2, fallout tatics, Lionheart:legacy of the crusader, Vampire the masquerade: bloodlines, morrowind, final fantasy series, star ocean 2, star ocean: till the end of time, xenosaga, xenosaga 2, xenogears, dungeon siege 2, forgotten realm games... Much much more to say, currently waiting for guild wars... Coming out in less than a month!
Final Fantasy III, (VI), is hands down the best RPG ever made! LOL! FF VII, FF II,(IV), FF I, and Zelda: A Link To the Past are also very good. I also thought that Link's Awakening on GB was very good. (I'm very retro, haha)
As far as interactivity and sheer depth goes, I would probably have to say Morrowind. You could rush through the main plot line in a day, or spend months and months finding every little nook and cranny through the expansive worlds. I believe my journal tops a few hundred pages in that game at this moment. I have not completed all of the quests yet though. Hahaa. Nostalgically, I would have to say FFVII hands down. It was the first RPG I really, REALLY got in to, and to this day the crappy translation and blocky sprites still amuse me to absolutely no end. I also love The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. It was my first official RPG, and a hell of a lot of fun. I thought Link was a girl for quite some time, though. I am not quite sure why, but oh well haha. I am starting to get a little bored with all the new games out. I can only hope the new Morrowind and Zelda are absolutely awesome and not just visual candy. 
I haven't played many, but the one I can keep playing and playing is Nox. Not wellknown, but a very nice game!

What Is The Best RPG You Have Ever Played That would be Runescape. Its 3d, no downloads, no story, you are free to do whatever you want as far as game, I played it for 5-yrs. Its the best. I've been looking for a new rpg but have only found Nodiatis, Gaia, Wizards 101, Avalon. the others require a download. -reply by Ryuan46By far the 4 best RPGs I have ever played are : Final Fantasy VII on PS1, Shining Force on Sega Mega Drive, Final Fantasy IX on PS2 and Knights Of The Old Republic on PC. Oblivion was good too, but the NPCs are far too randomized in response and behaviour, making it hardly an RPG. Nevertheless, it is well designed action/adventure game (apart from the main quest which can be completed from the very start of the game). I would highly recommend it on PC, as it can take modifications and if you have any clue on developing you can make your own mods as well , so thumbs up on that. As Final Fantasy VII, as soon as I inserted the disc on the PS console, I didnt stop playing until I was finished it (took me 53 hours and 27 minutes of continuous non-stop gaming) and frankly, this has never happened to me before with any other game. Of course after that I tried to see if the myths about resurrecting Aeris were true, thus reaching lvl 99 on all characters, including final limit breaks and final weapons, thus defeating all the weapons, making all the colours of chocobos available ( even the gold one which is uber cool btw :P )and generally obtained every possible item and kept it in my inventory... Just to find out that the resurrection was merely a legend... Even though it was a part of my life well wasted (I had reached 16 million Gil or something like that). As far as FF IX is concerned, it was also a very good game :). The chocobo fun was more than in the 7th of the game series, but trust me, when you have gotten your flying chocobo, and try to find the last picture it might take you hours even days to find the spot where the last treasure is burried. Like VII, IX has also really nice mini games and goes deep into each and every characters past and history. Although it fails where VII is the best, the amazing script of course. KOTOR is a good game but nothing compared to the 2 FF games I mentioned above and in a totally different gameplay and plot style. Shining force is a must play game, even though it was 2-d it beats the hell out of many games created even for for conmsoles PS3.
