which program is good for flash

i want to create flash clips for my site,
please suggest me which programe is good?

in your choices i think the best one is flash mx. i also tried swish max and it's good and fast in creating animating text, one click text animation. i didn't tried free hand coz i have ps and illustrator, i'd use this program to import gfx to flash for a nice and cool background

i also think that the best is flashmx, because it is clearly and easy.

Do you want to make flash clips for a homepage,or .....
Because flash-intros take a lot of space and so 56k users do not watch this clips. if you want to make intros you can make it as a gif..

All the 3 types can create good Flash Animation.

Freehand is easy for those who are trained in Print Media.

Swish are for those who is keen in animation but know little about it.

Macromedia Flash are for experience users who know what they want.

I only use Macromedia Flash 2004 MX and i think is good although I don't like flash apps

Macromedia Flash MX is a very powerful, top of the range program and like most of them (eg. Photoshop) are fairly hard to get started with, but in the right hands can produce amazing pieces of work. On the other hand, SwishMAX is a hell of a lot cheaper, very easy to use, and can still produce impressive animations. If you're going to use it seriously (ie. for work), then I would definately go for Flash. If you're on a limited budget though, and you're only going to mess around with it, get Swish.

swish max is somehow crippled with features compared to macromedia flash mx, but its the best choice if your on a tight budget and low system resources.

Macromedia Flash is the only Flash development program I would ever consider working with. Cheap, easy alternatives such as SWISH are ok for very basic, boring animations - but it is infinately slower than Flash, and produces jerky and unclean animations.

Freehand is a vector graphic program, yes. But it also has an animate feature and can export to .swf

That's the Flash Toolbar in Freehand.

Now as far as Flash MX goes, I didn't know scratch about Flash (still don't). And I started in Flash MX (the 2002 version), which seemed endlessly complex for me. So I decided to give Swish a try, and for some reason that seemed even more complicated than the smooth, easy feeling lay out used in FLash. So I tried Swish ONCE, and uninstalled it. I figured that if I wanted to learn Flash, I would be better off using decent tools.

So back to Flash MX. Now I am using Flash MX 2004 Pro (which to be honest is pretty complex, the non pro version seemed easier for web stuff, and the Pro is more directed towards Flash Application devellopment).

On a side note, I still don't know anything about ActionScript LOL. But here's a link to a banner I did in Flash, which took me ages to do. I only made one big screw-up, which was to import a jpg. Bad idea since it looks pretty blurry and looks very unprofessional.

Please bear in mind that this was and is my first banner (and it was over 300 frames and 50 layers) SIFBanner

If you aren't sure about which one to choose, then you're probably unfamiliar with Flash. Flash is obviously the best program, but if you're not that good with Flash, maybe you should try Swish. I don't know if this is true, but I thought free hand can only draw vector images (flash images), but not animate them...

Swish is pretty good for starters, but Flash MX is the best for making Flash. It is probably the only one that allows you to use all of the capabilities of Flash.

i'm sure this is already mentioned by one of the posts above me...but i think that each is good at different things. Swish is excellent for animation but only allows only basic coding. Flash MX makes it somewhat difficult for detailed animation and such, but is effective at advanced coding. Never tried Free-hand so i can't say how that application stacks up with the other two =P

Why?

I have been animating with Flash for over a few years now (i guess i started somewhere in 2000) and tried some other prgms. But compared to flash, they just, well, sucked. I must admit that i don't know of freehand, but with swish, it's like this guy before me said:
