Problems With Matrox Video Card - gaming

i am a serious gamer, and i want to upgrade my computer in time for christmas. So i wanted to know
your opinion on which of the following graphics cards would be best for the job i want to do:
Sapphire Radeon X1300 256MB (PCI) Sparkle GF 6600 512MB (PCI) Gigabyte GF 6600 Turbo SLI 128MB (PCI)
Any other graphics cards within the price range of £0-£100 Also, does the memory of the card only

Hi. I need help with installing a video/graphic card in the PCI Express x16 slot. My motherboard is
Intel D915PBL. This problem applies to a ATI X700 card. I slotted the card into the PCI Express x16
slot and when I turn on the computer, the fan of the video card is spinning. However, Windows did
not detect any new hardware. Btw, my motherboard doesn't comes with in-built video card. Since
I don't have a on-board vid card I need a video card to see whats on my monitor. I'll plug

Hi, i've got a dell dimension 3000 computer. I wanted to upgrade the motherboard so it could fit
a PCI-e graphics card. Unfortunatly, i found that the dimension 3000 doesn't take well to be
fitted with another motherboard. Im running with a Geforce FX 5200 128MB graphics card, and wonder
if i shouldn't just upgrade the CPU from a celeron D 2.53 Ghz to a Pentium 4 3.2Ghz HT. Is the
Geforce FX not good enough for gaming, or will it be ok and i can then just upgrade my cpu?

Hi all, I'm hoping someone in here has got an ASUS G70 17" Extreme Gaming Laptop (the one with
the SLI GeForce graphics chipsets which ships with Vista Ultimate as standard). I am looking for a

I have an external 80GB laptop hard disk. When I connect it to my PC, everything goes fine. The
problem occurs when I tried to disconnect it form my PC. It shows an message like "Cannot remove
now, some programs are using the Hard Disk". Next time I connect it to my PC and try to open it. It
shows me "Disk is corrupted or unreadable". It says format the Disk. When I do that, it says "the
Disk connot be formatted". This hard disk is working on some PC's and in some others PC's it

9550,i had no idea how to put it in... so my mate told me how to do it and it worked its all good
cause now i can play BattleField 2142... Its a good card so far im very happy with ATI have had any

I have an older motherboard, and before I upgrade to a new pc, I would like to replace my old video
card. I want something that will be able to handle (to some extent) some of the newer video games -

I have a very old (9 years) CRT monitor and hate to throw it away unless it's life is all used

Recently, I've been encountering several problems with my computer. One of those is that when i
play a game, say MapleStory that uses up the whole screen, sometimes it would just hang for a second
or 2 and restart the computer. Each time this happens, i send the error report and (surprisingly)
Microsoft have found a solution which i do not understand. This is the link to the error report:

Hi, i installed Alcohol 1.2 and deinstalled it after a while. Now my PC doesn“t reconize my CDs but
any DVD (Movies/Data) i put in works fine. I did clean the registry with TuneUp utilities but no

So, I shuted down my PC. Then in the morning I tried to turn it on but nothing happend. I cleared
case and tried to turn on againg. But nothing happend again! :-( I went to Service Center. They
change my cooler on CPU. I got home and turned on my PC. All was OK. At the next morning when I

I am looking for a new Video Card and was wondering what the prices range from. In my current one I
am getting video, but the quality is not too good. I played that new game Rome and the game works,
but when they get to the parts where the animated characters talk it starts lagging, and same with
age of empires III. I just want a video card that can play all the games properly and above the

I installed a new sound card because the one on my motherboard stopped working properly. First time,
the drivers installed correctly and I was able to listen to all my music. Now, every time I turn off
the computer or restart, I have to uninstall and then reinstall the drivers before I can play

Since my last formatting of my Windows XP, the sound playback quality has decreased immensely, not
necessarily the quality of the one, but the smoothness of what is being played. There seems to be
lots of lag during playback, and sometimes it will go to halfspeed. I think it may be because of
RAM, but I've always been fine with my 256 RAM card. Can someone diagnose the problem?...

this isnt completly a hardware problem but it is mostly... windows xp was giving me an error message
saying that i had deleted/replaced system files that was requred for windows to run properly and it
needed me to insert my xp upgrade cd to fix problems (upgrade cd is what came with computer -xp pro)
after inserting cd and files started being copied it started popin error messages at me saying that
files can not be found on the cd. figured restarting computer and restarting the setup would fix
it...well, didnt, just created a bigger problem. it would boot into xp pro and...
