Position In Search Engines

Hello I want to ask, is there any way to be higher in search engeines - I mena yahoo or google - I have an website which i want to promote - it is addes to google but it isn't on very high in rank. I have readen some about Page Rank, that page should be light, had many times writen keyworlds on his body and have many links on internet to it. It sound good - I can make site which is valid witht w3 and has few kb... (mine has 4kb and 3kb of css, and some images, but robots ignore them...), but if I must have many links to it on internet it becomes more dificult... maby there is other way to raise my position? maby adding my site to catalogs in other search engeines will help? can you tell me what shoul I do? I would be vaery grateful

Not only the structure of your webpage is important but mainly the content and the relative key words search performed by the search engine.

Here is an example. Let's say I have a website that promotes Holiday vacation packages. When you search the keywords "holiday" and "vacation", due to other sites being so much popular than mine, my site will not appear any higher than others who paid or existed for many years.

So one of the tactics is to use relative keywords many times through my page. And use the correct META tags, site map, etc. Do not leave any broken links. There was another trick I learned about having too many HREF links in your site...but I forget. Also something about the ratio of inbound URL (within your site) vs. outbout (leaving/linking to other site) ratio...hopefully someone else can help with this subject.

But appearing higher on the search engine by you does not mean that it will appear on others. I once searched my website few dozen times and the next day my site showed as #1, beating all 500 previous entries. So I was curious to see if my cache had anything to do with it. Sure enough it did. I cleared my cache and waited 2 days to do another search and it went back down to #700

I just hope that Google doesn't have my IP in their cache so that no matter what I do, my IP somehow shows what I've been searching in higher rank than others. That would mean that the search engine is nothing more than a target marketing tool that Google turned into. You know what I mean?

I still think META tags makes some difference, although I have read many articles that said not. And trying to mislead search engines with faulty META keywords will land your site at the bottom of the trash. Meaning, I could flood my website with the same META tags as, i.e., Amazon.com but if my content does not match my meta tags, the search engine will place my website as "fake" and will not be liked by web crawlers.

yes, I know... I even thought about adding my site to many searches, but I don't know if it will have any affect. I saw that adding sites to catalogs on large portals have some affects - thera are just more links to your page
I have also readen, that adding links to our site on many pages with high rank makes better effect than adding on pages with low rank

for some time page rank has become stupid... pages who don't exist are still indexed and sometimes are highier than pages with top level domain... but it is propably because just like you said, that they exist longer, but wait a second... they don't exist... so why it is like that?

I want also ask, what are popular searches, where I can add my website to promote it - can anybody write list of those?

Today business is made by searching suppliers by search engines. So the question "How can put in the first 5 of my page?" is a part of marketing. It is driven by money so a lot of person did already that you want to learn.

For examle search for "failure" by google. You will be suprised on the results.
Page ranking is based on the inner algorithms of the search engines.

There are some factors that effects your page's ranking. Dowload and install google toolbar. It contains a PageRank field. When you move the mouse over it you can see a number. This shows the actual page's rank number.

When your site is linked at a page which has high ranking then your page's ranking will increasing.
When your site is linked from a link farm then your page's rank can decrease dramatically.

There are some technics around search engine optimisation. There are 2 kinds:
1. White hat seo: you do everithing legal without cheating to increase the page's popularity both by search engines and humans. When you create good content the persons will talk about your pages and these persons' friends will visit your page. This human-based effect can increase your page's ranking.
You can optimize the page for some keywords:
- Use the searh keywords in the name of files and domain (in URL)
- Use anchor texts to describe the content behind the link. Anchor is the text between <a href> and </a> elements.
- Keyword density should be 3-7%
- Number of keywords shouldn't be more then 5.
- Title of pages should contain the keywords
- headings should be used <h1> to describe sections. These headings also should contain the keywords.
- use meta tags to describe the keywords and each possibile thing
- use backlinks from high ranked pages. (search your keyword and "add link" with google) Take care about anchor text used in link.
- refresh your pages with a news section or use forum to keep the page updated.

2. Black hat seo: there are several cheat technics. You can cloack the page: create a human readable page and an other for the search engine robot/spider. For example you create a link with an anchor that is much longer than a human would except. I didn't spent time to know these practices so I don't know lot about these techs. You can search on google about this topic. Usually these pages are removed from the google's search list after google gets notification that your page contains cheating.

One of the ways, more expensive way, is to sign yourself for a sponsored search that will put your web site on top places in outlet search results, where you are charged only when your ads are clicked.

In example, Yahoo Small Business says: "Sponsored Search can prominently display your business in search results on leading sites like Yahoo! and more, so you connect with customers searching for what you sell"

Also, most web hosting companies help their customers to optimise web sites so the web sites can be ranked higher in the search engines results, you should ask your hosting company how can they help you.

Getting High on searchengiones is really a very difficult job, and very expensive too ,to get good rank for the keyword you need .Create content for the same and keep increasing your content surrounding the keywords you want to target ,the best way to search for targeted keywords is to get WEBCEO ,its a free software and very helpful to search for right type of keywords ,buy some links from good page rankers and make sure all your links get indexed by google, if you are starting your site from scratch and searching for domain ,than buy the ones that currently exists ,so you won't have sandbox problem of google in which your site don't get indexed for a long time.
you could also do advertising on searchengines if it suits your marketing inventory ,like if you have 2% sales rate in your site and the cost per click is low that you can easily manage in your profits than simply keep advertising all over ,that is what will get you profit.
Getting in good rankings is not at all easy but if you keep working on it for a year or two,you would really reach a good level.
and remember that the bad techniques would never get you reach at the top.
