The Dell XPS series has Core 2 Duo with 7900 Ge Force cards. Their warranty is good for the parts, tech support over the phone could be frustrating for the experienced. A good brand name if that means anything to you. Not to mention the XPS notebooks have a cool case design IMHO.

One Word: Apple Laptops has been the area that Apple has been dominating for years. I'm not sure what video cards they are bundling these days, but generally it has been close to their PC rivials (if not the exact same thing) and now they are all Core Duo processors on the MacBook series. Plus the new magnetic power adaptor rocks. If someone trips over your cord while pugged in, your laptop doesn't go with it. (I had that happen to a 12" powerbook once and that cost $800 in repairs)

The Dell XPS M170 has such a graphics card, the laptop is designed for gaming and it even comes with a warranty especialy made for gamers  . Something that might help you is some sort of magazine, they sometimes review a bunch of laptops and it's a good way to get to learn some new brands (wich surprisingly offer good stuff for 'unknown' companies). Try looking in the database on notebookreview.com

I think, that it will help us a lot, if you explain us, for what are you planning to use the laptop, you plan to buy. From my point of view if you plan to buy it,,mainly for games, then you will probably spend a lot of money and wont enjoy the full potencial of the game..If it is for gaming, I would advice you to buy a desktop machine better, with superb sound..Nowadays, games just dont strain graphics cards but the sound cards also..It is amazin how a game can change with the proper sound system....Well,,as I said before. Share with us the purpose of the laptop you plan to buy..That will help us a lot...cheers

In that case, it's realy handy when you can carry everything in a small backpack. The fact is when notebooks are made for gaming, they usualy fail on every other aspect. They're not compact, they aren't realy silent, the battery life-time isn't super-be (even when not gaming) and they get hot, but they're great for gaming .

Frustrating Problem With XP On Laptop
(20) I have my Dualcore AMD Acer laptop, 5102Wlmi, with a 120GB hd, 2 GB ram, etc. I had a friend buy it
in the states and bring it over just 2 months ago. All of a sudden, the other day when i went to
turn it on, it would bring up the xp boot screen, and then just hang there. I tried a different hard
drive. no luck. I tired installing XP, but after booting from cd and loading all the drivers, right
after the FAT and NTFS drivers, it says "Setup is loading Windows" and then it hangs there. I've
left it overnight and in the morning it's still in the same place. I can&#....
Just Got A New Laptop....
a couple questions (13) I bought an Acer Aspire 5601WLMI for $850 after rebates. It has an AMD Turion 64 X2 ML-50 processor,
2 GB DDR2 ram, 120GB hard drive, 15.4 in brightview widescreen, etc. I did alot of online research
before i bought it, as I don't like Acers, and would have gone for a Compaq or Dell had i had
more time. But it seemed to get pretty high reviews, and on notebookreview.com it was in the top 5.
But has anyone here had any experience with one of them, and can shed more light on whether i made
myself a deal or a lemon? Also, say i was to try out Linux on it, would i run i....
New Laptop - Dell, Bad
laptop, dell, bad (3) well my current dell laptop is a inspiron 1000 which is complete crap. it's been terrible almost
a month after i got it for christmas...i'd say a year and a half ago. It was low on memory two
months later! i got more upgraded and it was still crap. recently the screen has been blacking out
while the computer remains active and continues to do it every time i get past the loading screen
but instead of pouring more money into my sad little laptop I've decided to spring for a new

Laptop Battery Out
Laptop's Battery not Charging (28) I left my laptop on, because I took my other computer to the technician for a check-up (some of you
might remember what happened to that computer) and so the battery of the laptop was not being
charged, so the battery was dead, because I didn't put on the adapter. Now, a whole new problem
has arised. The laptop is not charging even when it is turned off. I tried to switch the adapter to
several different plugs, but the charge light was still not going on. I tried to turn on the laptop

Any suggestions for buying a laptop? (10) Hey, I'm be going to school in a year or so, and I've been looking for a laptop, I'm
not really desperatly in need for one, but I do need one that's relatively cheap so that if it

(5) Is there anyway to transfer data from a standard PC slave drive to a laptops hardrive without having
the PC HDD installed in a PC? I realise this is a somewhat silly question as the HDD would need to
