I use photoshop to my office, because is more powerful than paint shop pro. To my home, i use gimp, because is free! I think that gimp will be very powerful in the futur. Now, over windows, it contain more bug!!

I use PSP b/c it's a) a heck of a lot cheaper  , and  most of my work is web. so I don't need all of the pther print-related stuff that PS has. Plus, having used both, I am most comfortable with PSP. I've been with PSP since ver. 5, and am now using 8.1 (I know, I'm behind the times, but oh, well...) With just PSP and Eye Candy 4000 I can do just about anything I need to do.....

photoshop for sure. I like using it to edit my 3D abstracts from Cinema 4D and for my webdesigns. Very useful tool. I've also used Paint Shop Pro before, but it just doesn't seem as convient for me.

I use Corel Draw for my graphics. Not Because I'm in love with it, but because I am self taught and don't have time to learn another program. It meets my needs.

Hey Chronic, what is Cinema4d like, I have never used it. Is it just another 3d package like lightwave/maya/max/etc? Or does it have different features?

in truth, it is simply a simplified version of 3D Studio Max. I used to use Studio Max, but it was such a large program...that I had to change to another application. I chose to use Cinema 4D ^_^ only about fifty mb compared to the few hundred Studio Max required. Plus it is almost as powerful too.

Hello, I'm a game modifier and it can be really hard making textures for 3d games like Age of mythology. I tried PS but I thought it did nothing for the cost it had. Then someone told me bout gimp and ya thats the best one. Its FREEEEEE and does my job

Ive just come into using Photoshop about 6 months ago and am just getting used to it. I think its an amazing program and is helpful in all sorts of aspects that i do on a day to day basis. I havent really tried any other software in this genre before so i cant really put it up against anything other than MS paint!

yeah that's true. but i tried gimp. it was a bit unfamiliar, i admit, but it was just... not the quality i need. for the average person, it's great. but if you want to really work on high end stuff, Photoshop CS2 is unmatched. same as with openoffice, the only way i would use gimp as my main editor would be in a linux environment.

C'mon everyone. I have only seen one post mentioning Gimp and no posts mentioning GIMPshop. I have to agree that PS CS2 is an awesome program that can do WAY more things than PSP. But what we have to realize is that most of us are not paying for it. Which is dangerous and stupid. GIMPshop is somewhere in between, PS and PSP, erring on the Photoshop side. If you are familiar with the Photoshop interface then GIMPshop eases your transition and helps you learn about the other, extra powerful features of GIMP itself because they look like "new" features to the Photoshop interface. I admit that you can't do everything in GIMPshop that you can do in PS and there are several convenient bridges between Adobe programs that make everything worlds easier. But how can you go wrong with a program that is well supported by the OS community, as powerful as you need it to be, and truly, deeply, madly, FREE. -PatchCR

I have to agree, photoshop is better... For its support in the community and its complicated features that psp could not provide... Now obviously if you dont have money and you want some decent software to edit your photo and artworks, psp is the one for you. But if you are a web designer or art professional photoshop is the best... Especially with all the action/filters/plugin support from different individuals and companies, its hard to not choose photoshop... Chin chin...

Photoshop Cs2 Vs. Gimp

Plasma Effect In Photoshop
Done in CS, but should work in other ver (7) This is a tutorial to create a plasma background effect. We are trying to get with a few filters.
Step 1) Press 'D' to reset your colours, choose linear gradient, uncheck all bozes, black
to white, and go crazy. Step 2)Do a wave filter (filter>distort>wave) and hit randomize a few
times. Step 3)Press ctrl+j(duplicate layer) and repeat step 2 on the duplicated layer. Set layer
belnding mode to lighten. Step 4)Repeat steps 2-3 once. Step 5)Press ctrl+u, check colorize, and
change colour! Congratulations, now you're done!....
Gel Blast Using Photoshop
(1) This effect... WOW... im jsut speechless! pretty easy also, this reminds me of a program from
skyone... called Stargate, or a program like that 1. Make a new image, ours is 1000px x 1000px -
with a white background 2. Fill the background with Dark Blue In future at least make sure that you
mention which software you're using for creating these effects. Not really good to leave the
others groping in the blind, isn't it ? ....

Getting Antique Look In Photoshop
(5) Okay, I want to get an antique look for a graphic, and though I knew that Paint Shop Pro has a nice
simple button to do that, I haven't figured out a way to get it done the right way in Photoshop.
I mean, I tried a desaturate then hue/saturation with hue 38, sauration 20 and lightness 14, and it
came out looking like this: It's nice and all, but not exactly what I was looking

Opinions? Is it worth the upgrade? (13) I know I'm a bit slow about this, apparently it was released on April 5th, but does anyone have
any opinions on just specifically Photoshop CS2? I currently own Photoshop CS (bought it at
educational pricing), and to buy CS2 as an upgrade will still be around S$299, which is quite a bit
