Overview Of Firefox Extensions--part 1 - Whatever your needs.

If you are a total neophyte, read the Firefox Extensions Guide first.

Web Developer. This is absolutely ESSENTIAL, a wonderful toolbar with loads of features. View cookies, convert things, it's ALL there.

Dict. Never be ashamed of your tiny vocabulary again! Just highlight a Big Word, right click, and look it up!

EggOn. Make the perfect egg with this tiny egg timer. Pretty sweet. :)

Opine-It. Comment on any site on the web. It's not that wonderful since there aren't too many commented sites. But if you want to help to make it better, that's nice.

SwitchProxy. Not a substitute for Proxomitron, but good. You can use multiple proxies and let them switch at any time. Yay for anonymity or a faster connection!

Sage. Click on the wise button and read all your RSS and Atom feeds. Click on the wise button again and go back to web browsing.

Google pagerank. Yep, that's the only reason you are not happy. You just want the pagerank. Well fear not! This displays a little page rank on the bottom of your screen. Glance back anytime.

FlashGot. Lets Moz and Fire make massive downloads using the most popular external downloaders. I never really used it. But it looks OK.

Context Search. Double click on a query, right click, pause on the Web Search for "query", and out comes all your search plugins! Very useful.

Conquery. Pretty similar to Context Search. You will have to discover the differences yourself as I can't remember--being using Opera for months.

You forgot some others:
Adbock- Just right click the annoying ad to have it not show up permenantly on your browser

Gmail Notifier- This is a must for anyone with a gmail account. Automatically notifies when new mail has arrived

Bug Me Not- Bypass compulsory web registration with the context menu via www.bugmenot.com

All-in-one-gestures Just hold right click, move the mouse in a certain pattern and execute the command

IEVIEW- For those pages that don't work in Firefox just right click and select View this page in IE

I use FlashGot and I'd HIGHLY RECOMMEND it - it solves a Big Problem that happens with almost every download manager. However good a download manager it, quite often it'll fail to catch a URL redirect - resulting in normal browser based downloads... I've tried out flashget, getright, download accelerator - you name it you got it.. but all of them fail at some point or the other.

FlashGot completely solves this problem, by intoducing a FlashGot option into the Save As dialog box that pops up when you click on such links. So all you need to do, is instead of doing a normal save, simply click on the FlashGot radio button and it'll smoothly redirect the download to your favourite download manager. Cool as hell Now finally, I can catch each and every link in my downmanager.

ForecastFox is also one good extension to check the realtime weather of your city and alsothe coming days forecast.

PDF Download is also good because PDF files are not downloaded corrcectly in firefox. This extension helps in that situation.

Auto Copy is also helpful when you need a lot of text copying from Firefox. Just select the text and copying over.

I used to have a ton of extensions, but ever since I formatted I onyl really have a handful installed. Gonna have to take some time and sift through the droves of them to re-find the ones I used to love and enjoy

Sweet entry.

I recommend RIP. It's like adblock, but it can block individual frames. So if you need something blocked from a certain website you go to, that isn't some sort of picture or flash, but mroe along the lines of wording, then RIP is the right ff extension for you

Anyway... To continue the list, here are some extensions I use.

• ColorZilla
  Official description: Advanced Eyedropper, ColorPicker, Page Zoomer and other colorful goodies.
  Comments: Ideal if you want to know the hex code for that nice little shade of blue on that webpage.
  
• Duplicate Tab
  Official description: Allows you to duplicate a tab, or to merge windows.
  Comments: No more copy-and-pasting URLs. =^^=
  
• Tabbrowser Preferences
  Official description: Enhances control over some aspects of tabbed browsing.
  Comments: What, the official description ain't enough for you?
  
• BBCodeXtra
  Official description: Adds BBCode/HTML/XHTML commands to the context menu.
  Comments: Perfect for forums without code buttons at the posting screen.
  
• MeasureIt
  Official description: Draws out a ruler to get the pixel width and height of any elements on a webpage.
  Comments: Seems pretty self-explanatory.
  
• ChatZilla
  Official description: A clean, easy to use and highly extensible Internet Relay Chat (IRC) client.
  Comments: For those who don't want to bother with mIRC (or other progs).
  
• Download Manager Tweak
  Official description: A modification of the Firefox download manager that changes its appearance and allows it to be opened in a separate window, a new tab, or the sidebar.
  Comments: Really useful in preventing the download manager's annoying habit of popping up with every download. Kinda redundant if you're using FlashGot, though...
  
• SessionSaver
  Official description: Magically restores your last browsing session.
  Comments: A must have! It restores all the tabs from your last browsing session. And more, it also restores your tabs in the event Firefox crashes. Undoubtedly one of the best extensions for Firefox!
  
• Linkification
  Official description: Converts text links into genuine, clickable links.
  Comments: Again, no more copy-and-pasting URLs.
  
• mozImage
  Official description: Allow you to browse image on your local machine.
  Comments: Turns Firefox into an image browser, but redundant if you already have an image browser like ACDSee. You know, I'm not sure why I have it...
  
• MR Tech About:About
  Official description: Adds about: options to Help Menu.
  Comments: For those too lazy to type the about: options in the address bar. Includes stuff like about:config, about:plugins, about:cache, about:buildconfig, and etc.
  
• ChromEdit
  Official description: A simple user profile editor.
  Comments: Pretty useful stuff if you know what you're doing.

The only other things I have that I haven't listed are Adblock, Flashgot, and Web Developer. Others have already mentioned those. I also used to have Gmail Notifier, but it's rather useless for someone with multiple Gmail accounts. I also used to have an RSS feed reader, but didn't find much use for it.

Anyway, I'm currently looking for extensions suitable for an amateur web developer myself. I already have the Web Developer extension, but I'm wondering what else I could use.
