I noticed that there's a new elder scrolls game out called oblivion. I looked at a of the gameplay video and the action looks improved. I was just wondering if anyone's played it and if so what's it like? The graphics obviously look a little better, but is it worth it? Does it have any multiplayer capabilities (which I doubt).
What are the system requirements like? I can play doom 3 and quake 4, although it's not the best quality, on my computer. Does it require more to run Oblivion than those FPS? |

Hell yeah, i have the game and its really fun and is better then old morrowind. graphic is the bomb.

I haven't played the game specifically, but I watched a little bit of the gamespot marathon where the reviewer was playing the game on its release for 12 hours straight I believe. From the looks of the in game gameplay it looks promising, but I really dont like the combat style, because its just too basic for my tastes. If they concentrate on the combat of the game on the next version this game might actaully interest me. I know so far they have succeeded in making the games customize ablitly and storyline and so forth. But me as a gameplayer, need to have a fluid combat system not a clunky combat system that they have right now.

Is the game worth all money? I mean, I'm thinking about getting Guild Wars Fraction, but I don't know whether I should buy it or not. The game looks interesting, but I prefer online RPG's...

Yes sir, this game is worth the money. Compared to other games where you get 10-15 hours of gameplay for $40-50, I've gotten over 70 hours so far with the $60 collectors edition. Get more bang for your buck. Plus the availability for mods makes the game slow to get boring... Gives you something new to play with almost every day. Ok first thing first its an elder scrolls game!! Second its brand spanking new and it’s improved with all the latest jazz it has it all or close to all of it. iv played it like 5 days straight since I got it and I’m loving it I tell ya if I only had $100 for the whole year for one game id get Oblivion hands down no questions, also ited be a good idea to get a collectors edition if you like all the extra stuff like a official coin from the imperial city and a map and book its awesome go get it it’ll be well worth it

I've sunk about 30 hours into it on my currect character, had about 5-10 on my first char before I realized I wanted to start over, so I've gotten at least 30-40 hours out of it. I rarely actually get that much gameplay out of a game and I have barely scracthed the surface of oblivion. I simply dont have the time to play it as much as I'd want to, but I know it'll always be there waiting for more exploring and whatnot. It's an amazingly deep experience and will make you wonder why so many other games nowadays are so much money for 10 hours of gameplay. I've played it on both 360 and pc and both versions are great. If you have an insane system the pc version looks better, but the 360 version is pretty schweet looking and runs decently. I look forward to having enough free time that I can return to close more gates of obvliion, mwhahahahaaaaaaaaaaaa

Elder Scrolls is THE best game series. It's definatly worth the money. Even if you're not fond of RPG's, this is a must get, because it's more adventure than Morrowind. I've played the 4 main ES's (Arena, Daggerfall, Morrowind and Oblivion) and think they're definatly excellent RPG's, and Oblivion has destroyed the curb, like Bethesda always do

My friend got Oblivion and he says its great. He said its a bit of a system hog, so he cant play it at full settings. Apparently the world is MASSIVE. It took him a couple hours just to get out of the city. Also apparently the AI is amazing. He stole a horse from a farmer and they sent some people after him. He did a quest, and came back to the farmer's house and the farmer was still missing a horse and was talking to himself about a missing horse. I'm considering getting it when I get my new PC, I have a feeling I might get too addicted to it lol

Its definitely worth it. The games visuals are amazing. I have it on PC running nicely and it allows certain mods too. Which is a nice plus. ive probably dummped about 30-40 hours on it and i am nowhere near the main plot (Lol ive only closed one Oblivion gate  ). The open-endness of the game is that cool. Best RPG of this year so far. Neverwinter Nights 2 was supposed to come out this year but apparently they are having trouble with development.

When i got oblivion i could not wait to get home and play it, it was one of the reasons i had bought my 360. As i was creating my character i was amazed at how much detail was put into the customization proccess, i thought ok this is gonna be good, i played through the game the first time and realised that i didnt see 1/2 of the entire world. (its huge!). But after i compleated the main story line and got my character up into high levels it got sort of boring. none of the enemies posed a challange and i had already beat all the guilds, so i went of it for a while but then i downloaded the new content of live and im still playing!! This is a quality game that can keep you amused for hours, but there are some minor things that could be improved on, (such as the loading). If you enjoy RPGs this is a must have..

I agree with you. To many people unused to massive RPGs, like the ones from Elder Scrolls series, having a somehow short main quest might be a problem. To usual RPG players, side questing is a must, if not the whole meaning of the game. But normal gamers aren't always used to follow non-linear plots, because in other game styles it works in a completely different way. Even some "pseudo"-RPGs like Diablo (mainly Diablo II) have a completely linear and strict plot. You always know what to do and where to go. Most exploration occurs by curiosity, leveling, or item farming. I believe Betheseda (too lazy to check for the spelling of this...) should interlace more side quests with the main one, sort of making you have to do them to continue. This happens a lot in Baldur's Gate saga (and games alike as Icewind Dale etc.), for example. You just receive a main quest, and in the way to your destination you have to make like 10 other ones before you go on with the main one. Having to look too much after new quests might be boring to most non-hardcore gamers. The modding system offered by the game makes mods amazingly powerful yet very simple to install. It's so cool to download a pack, insert it into the game and just run! It adds a hell of a replay factor... I recommend it if you like well written stories, and doesn't care to play games offline (as I usually do...). It's not the king of game to start in the the RPGs world, though.

Haha that wouldn't surprise me noddy, when I got it I went to work the next morning with about an hour of sleep in me because I didn't look at the clock and before I knew it it was about 5 or 6am. Dangerous game I tell you I've seen some crazy pc mods for it too. I haven't tried many since I have the 360 version but it seems the mod community is going strong for oblivion just like it was for morrowind so once you get some play in I'm sure you'll find ways to keep yourself living off microwaveable noodles for even longer hehe.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
Initial Impressions (1) So I finaly, FIIIIIINALLY got my hands on my copy of Oblivion for xbox360. While I obviously
couldn't review it as I've spent about 2-3 hours playing only, I felt I would give my
initial opinions and open up a topic for anyone else with the game to rave about its awesomeness.
In case you missed the subtle hint... the game lives up to the hype so far. From the beginning where
the character Patrick stewart voices begins talking and you get to see the game world you are sucked
in. The graphics are simply unbeliavble and the game mechanics are great. I'll agree ....
