Does anyone know of any "free" network design software? Anything that can aid in mapping out a network (if you work on an enterprise or really large network) like the technical diagrams to map out routers, switches, hubs?
Anything would be great!

Hi, A programt that I can suggest that is very good is Microsoft Visio. It is great at creating network diagrams as well as many other things, I use it for all my work at home. It comes pre-installed with diagrams, pictures and everything you need. Also, it has a very easy to use User Interface. all you have to do is drag the item you want (say like a remote computer terminal) onto the document and start from there. Draw lines from picture to picture. The lines and pictures automatically lok to the grid as well. Though you did say that you wanted it to be free. Microsoft Visio is not that, why would microsoft make it free?? But, you can download a free 30-day trial from them to play around with. If you like it so much after that you can even purchase it. After 30 days it will go into reduced function mode and some functions will not be available. Still its a great way to test out the product. Having Network Card Issues On A Dual Boot Laptop
(4) I have just installed a dual boot setup with Windows XP Professional SP2 and Ubuntu 7.04 on a DELL
Inspiron 1501. While I did the installation no cable was plugged into the NIC. After plugging a
network cable into the NIC I'm having the problem that Ubuntu recognizes and can work with the
NIC without any problems, but in Windows XP I can't get the LAN connection to show up in Network

How To Keep The Internet Out From A Network ?
Using Dlink Giga lan switch, DSL ... see picture (9) So..in the picture below you can see the schematic I made. The internet enters in the first PC thru
the DSL box , and I wanna connect the internet PC with the other PC's with a giga lan speed. For
that I think I will need a second Lan card because the internet PC only has one lan port. Next I use
the Dlink 8 ports Switch. But I don't want the internet go from the internet PC thru the Dlink
and to the other PC's. Because I don't wanna put firewall and stuff on the other PC's.

Usb Lan Network Cards!
(11) i bought one off of eBay for $20 and it kicks ass!!! I just installed the driver and plugged it in
and it picked up the signal from my roughter and i never even had to open up my computer. Cards
similar go for around $60. lol. haha. my ass. this thing is awesome. Then i got a new computer
that had VISTA and i could install the driver because it wasn't for VISTA. So i used my
girlfriends computer to go online and go to the companies website and they had a download for the
VISTA driver on their site. Hells YEAH!!! Now it works and it's freakin fast as hell!....
Won't Reconnect To Wireless Network Automatically Once Disconnected

Network+ Practice Tests
(0) Hey, I'm studying for my Network+ cert (and, well, state competition as well) and I really want
to get my Network+ and make it to nationals in competition. The test software that came with the
Exam Cram 2 book is pretty basic, I've taken the "practice" test of 50 questions over and
over... it recycles the same questions and I've lost intrest... when you keep scoring a 80-97%

Help In Network With Windows 98 SE

Pc's and 1 Laptop. The desktop computers are connected using RJ45 connectors and the Laptop with

What Replaces .netrc When Using Windows Xp ?
In Unix and in Linux, there is a network configuration file named .net (4) When I am on a Unix system or on a Linux system, I use a configuration file named ".netrc", which
stores my most used ftp settings. Is there an equivalent for ftp under Windows XP ? I tried

Unable To Connect My Comp. To A Wireless Network

(3) My new home network is not running on 2 machines at my house. I have tried renetworking rebooting
