| | Check out Microsoft Live!'s new Virual Earth. Its in an early development stage and currently we can tour only Seattle(Microsoft's hometown) and San Francisco. But its really amazing. They've stitched high resolution sattelite pictures along with thousands of actual photographs taken on the streets in various parts of the city. Just walk on the streets of Seattle or drive through in a sports car as if you were actually there! Its just too good! Take a look at it: http://preview.local.live.com/ |

that's the same thing I wanted to do. microsoft "stole" my idea. But it's kinda different from mine because mine was supposed to be really LIVE like you can see what is really happening over there. It's like being teleported there singa cumputer. You'd be able to take a plane to go to a different country and just tour there virtually LIVE! I'm gonna check it out when I get home because these libarians in school may think its a game. i don't wanna get kicked out.

Microsoft To Buy Yahoo!
Yay or Nay? (36) Ok, the news has been spreading since this morning when Microsoft announced that they will buy one
of the largest search engine companies in the world, Yahoo! Inc. It has been speculating that they
had a really close relationship due to the Windows Live Messenger and Yahoo! Messenger integration.
Now that Microsoft is forking over $44.6 BILLION USD in cash and stock, one may wonder ... what will
Microsoft buy next? The whole Internet? More on Ars Technica:

Microsoft Silverlight Technology
A new addition to the Windows Live family (3) Microsoft has released a new development platform (I think it is) called Microsoft SilverLight. It
is supposed to bring rich, interactive, streaming media into a cross-browser, cross-platform
environment. (Personally, I think they are ignoring Opera). The development team is working hard to
get this running on Firefox as well as Internet Explorer. They are adding support for "major,
leading browsers" quickly and efficiently when possible. Macintosh users (for Mac OS X) can also
download this application which is under 2MB in size. You can download SilverLight 1.0 Beta ....
Microsoft Has Basically Declared War On Open Source!
(8) Hey all As a supporter of open source software and a user of Linux, I am angered at Microsuck's
latest actions and lawsuit threats towards Linux Kernel, GUI, OpenOffice.org, and many other open
source applications. All I have to say is, why the wait? Most of the stuff they're COMPLAINING
violates their patents is OLDER or JUST AS OLD as Windows. Also, they're leaving a lot out of
the lawsuits: Linux is based off of UNIX so they would have to then sue the creators and/or users
of UNIX... but wait, it gets better! They would then have to sue Apple because Mac....
Book Sale For Charity
Local Associated Bank hosts this book exchange (1) This is the first I have seen in my local city and it is ongoing. Most are just drives that have an
ending, this one doesn't. The way it works is fairly simple really. The bank has a book cart
and a table in its lobby as people enter through the main entrance. They can browse the books and
put cash in for whatever they take. The cost is .50 cents for a paperback and $1.00 for a hard
cover. Of course, if you don't have cash on you...you are at a bank. The exchange part is that
they welcome donations of any kind of books as well as cash. These book donations....

Microsoft Word Security Issue
(7) Microsoft Word Security Issue Microsoft announces that there are some security problems with many
different versions of Word. Microsoft claims that users might get the virus from accidentally
opening a Word document sent by an unknown sender. They also claim that they will try to fix it by
December 12th. The source article: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/...ory/929433.mspx

from unknown senders. I mean usually there is no reason to be opening an attachme....
Microsoft Novell Merg..... Errr... Partnership
(5) I've been watching this Webcast on Novell's website about the "merger" between Microsuck and
Novell. If you haven't realized it, it's Microsuck's attempt to spread it's evil
monopolist ways into a GOOD company. The entire thing is BS. Microsoft interested in Open Source
software (SuSE linux)??? NO WAY! Not only can't Steve Ballmer say "Free software" (see this
slashdot article: http://it.slashdot.org/it/06/11/13/1432221.shtml) but he can't even
pronounce "SuSE". He says about 5 variations.. Also, SuSE Enterprise Linux is going to have ....

Microsoft Music Service?
The scoop. (5) On CnnMoney.com, I read today (June 19) that "sources say" Microsoft is developing a music service
and device to compete with Apple's iPod and iTunes. It will be a pay-per-download service with
an optional "all you can eat" monthly payment. It's supposed to be more user-friendly as far as
finding new artists or having a music community online. I guess that's the big hook, because
obviously it's not going to work with anything but WMP PlaysForSure devices. The sources said
that they already saw a prototype of the device and heard the great things about ....
Adobe Threatening Microsoft
May strike a deal (11) Summary : Microsoft included a "save to PDF" and XMS (their format to 'rival' pdf) feature
in the office 2007 beta, which has been made available to the public for quite some time now. While
adobe does sell their own product to create PDFs (around 240$ I believe), this feature has been
included in Apple software, OpenOffice.org and some others for quite some time. Yet when Microsoft,
their so-called business partner, jumped on the bandwagon Adobe threatened to counter with legal
action. They wanted Microsoft to remove the feature from the retail version and....

Microsoft Hates OpenOffice
(17) Today I got my Maximum PC magazine and I found this in the Fun Size News section: QUOTE When
questioned abiut the open-source office-suite rival OpenOffice.org, Microsoft execs recently said
the free office suite was great - for someone living in 1996. "OpenOffice is really designed to
solve the problems that Microsoft focused on 10 years ago," said Alan Yates of Microsoft.
"OpenOffice is fine if you have very limited needs. Count us as folks with "limited needs" then;

Free USB Thumb Drive From Microsoft
Contains Licensing Guides and Info (17) Here's how you can get yourself a free USB thumb drive from Microsoft : They're stuffing
a USB memory stick / flash drive with information and FAQs on licensing, how to get legal copies of
Windows, best use practices and other info that the marketing pundits at Microsoft believe at least
some people will go thru in return for a free USB thumb drive. Once you get it, you're free to
erase the data on it and use it as you wish, I suppose. Otherwise, they might have just burnt the
info on a CD and sent that to you. There is a catch though, the site mentions....
Microsoft Leaks Vista Information
(8) I found this while checking out Business 2.0's 101 dumb moments in business list and decided I
should post here and share! It appears Microsoft is a bad secret keeper. No really! Today, they
seemed to have prematurely posted lots of good information about the operating system. QUOTE
"Microsoft recently posted a web page designed to test the Windows Vista help system that included
incomplete information about the Windows Vista product line up," a Microsoft spokesman said in a
statement. Apparently Microsoft is making six primary editions and two special on....

Microsoft Office 12 Will Be Office 2007
Microsoft Office 12 will be Office 2007 (5) Thanks to Steven Bink for this news update on Office 12. Well I saw Office 12 demo's at IT
Forum where the apps were named Office 2007, also as mentioned earlier on Bink.nu, the name change
of all office apps now have the name Office in them. So "Microsoft Office Word" and not "Microsoft
Word" Now with Office Inline Beta the name Office 2007 appears again, so we can expect to launch
as Office 2007. I also saw Exchange 12 as Exchange 2007, this might change to Exchange 2008 cause
it will be released in Q1 2007. On the other hand marketing would like to see the n....
Microsoft Want To Standardize Office Formats

Microsoft In The P2p Network
(8) History : Ever since Napster was launched, the P2P concept has been regarded as being barely legal.
Idea But once Microsoft will embrace it, under the name Avalanche (where are they getting the
names from?), the P2P concept has all the chances of entering a new era. A fast network able to
provide ( in a legal environment ) software and movies is a very good idea which will gain many
followers. But the new P2P concept will not be BitTorrent’s executioner, it will only represent a
legal alternative to it. With Avalanche, Microsoft might gain a strategic position o....
