| | hello all.....haven a odd issue with a laptop.......the laptop will not power up unless the ac adapter is plugged in....the battery is new and once the laptop is runnin xp shows thats the battery is charged...currently 92%. Now i can unplug the ac adapter and the system will run under battery power for some time(1 hour +) but if i power the laptop down and try to power it back up it will power up for 3 or 4 secs then go dead.then i have to use the ac adapter once again. I"m thinkin maybe the battery cant handle the load while booting....not real sure though...laptop is a sony vio |

I think your problem is that the bios is getting the battery information wrongly. It might have thought your battery is low, so it cut it off. But in windows, the driver for acpi might think other wise. You mentioned that the battery is new? But your notebook is old??? Is it an original battery? Normally the battery is capable to handle the starting load and for notebook, the startup load is actually the same throughout. You can try to look under your bios, explore around and see if there's an option to do a battery calibration. Most notebook has one. If your's have, then run it. Be prepare to spend at least 4 to 8 hours though. It will full charge your battery, then discharge it and then charge again, to recalculate it's capacity. After that, your battery's remaining percentage and remaining time will be more accurate.

Sounds like a battery problem to me, the battery might be reporting false data to the system and the BIOS thinks there's a lot of power but there isn't any power remaining on the battery. Try popping in a new battery. xboxrulz

Hook Xbox 360 To Laptop.
(8) Hello, I am going to get a laptop very soon (hopefully tomorrow at some point), and where I live at

Laptop Auto Starts After Turning It Off
(12) My laptop auto starts after I turn it off. I was told by a friend that an internet signal was the
cause for the laptop to turn itself back on but I already verified that's not the case. Every
time I turn off the computer, I have wait until it starts back and then press and hold on to the

Ups Battery Backup
(11) I'm currently using a regular power surge protector for my computers. I have been thinking of
buying a UPS battery backup instead. Is there any big advantage over having a regular surge
protector? I mean, if I do get a surge, will the UPS backup still be in good condition for me to
shut my computer down properly? Most of the lower end UPS backups I've seen say the power run
time is 4-10 minutes long. Why does it take 4-8 hours to charge it up to 90% and give so little

Support: Laptop Wont Turn On
(19) Hi All, I have a Acer Aspire 3003WLC for about a year now. Not a bad, simple laptop, but i have been
having power problems recently. I have had to have the laptop repaired once already because the
sound had stopped working and since I have got it back there has been problems with the power. When
i attempt to turn the laptop on, with just the battery, nothing happens! when i plug in the ac

(you've read it correctly, if u dun believe ur eyes, read it again.) However, something strange
happens to my LCD screen whenever the screen sleeps and then wakes up. Suddenly it just reddens up

Help, My Laptop Charger Is Not Working Properly
(24) I have a HP Pavilion laptop. I bought it about 2-3 years ago. I try to plug in the charger end to
my laptop and it does not start charging. I can take the back off of it, plug the charger in, and

Problem with Dell 600m (20) One of my friends has a Dell 600m which he bought around the same time as me. We pretty much have
the exact same specs, but my processor and video memory is a little better. He has been having
problems since the time he got the laptop with it overheating to the point of it locking down.

Laptop Battery Bay Damaged?
(15) I had my laptop for over a year and suddenly one day it won't hold the charge in the battery
anymore. So I thought it was a bad battery...sent it in to be repaired and the techs said it's
not the battery. Tested ok. They said it was the charging port. Warranty was over already so I dealt
with the issue...about 3 years now. I want to know how to repair this. Do I have to change the whole
motherboard to replace that battery compartment area? Or is there an easier way to do this? The

IBM 390x With Win98
battery problem... (1) I got an old laptop from someone, and had to load windows98 on it, as it's too slow to take
anything better. I was able to find all the drivers on the internet, in particular from
driverguide.com and IBM's website, but there was no driver for power management or battery.
There is a battery in the laptop, but in power options it says i don't have one. how can i get
the computer to accept that there's a battery there? As it is now, as soon as i pull the power
