I have a toshiba laptop, pretty new, had it sence december of last year, but recently [like yesterday] I woke up to notice my charger wasn't working. I thought is was the box thing or it wasn't plugged in when it suddenly told me my computer wasn't charging.
I checked and noticed the jack was not working, I fiddled with it for a while and got it to work but then it stopped agian, so the process went over and over again threw the whole day.
I saw diffrent things on line, send it back, go get it checked out, replace mother board, but I am not sure what to do, if anyone has any suggestions on what to do if they have had the same problem please help

I saw diffrent things on line, send it back, go get it checked out, replace mother board, but I am not sure what to do
At least get is checked is the first thing to be done. Go to the shop where you bought your laptop with your charger box, and ask them to check it. The charger box is the most fragile part in your computer, so it's the most probable device to fail, so check it first.

Answer To Fixing Lap Top Problem ,
Help, My Laptop Charger Is Not Working Properly
if your problem is this where u have to plug in the charger move it around and then the back of the plugging part where u charge it gets hot heres your answer. You Have to open you lap top and on your mother board I'm pretty sure will be the connector to the charger make sure that is plugged in nicely and then at the charger part when u open up your lap top Pull that Silver Line thing which your lap top charger connects into out A bit further so It Should get full power then . I Hope this helped even though its a bit late.

Can I use my older Ni-Cd batterycharger to charge my Ni-MH batteries?
Help, My Laptop Charger Is Not Working Properly
Can I use my older Ni-Cd battery charger to charge my Ni-MH batteries?
No, you can use a newer Ni-MH charger to charge your old Ni-Cd batteries but you should not try to charge Ni-MH batteries with a Ni-Cd charger.
Here's why:
Ni-MH and Ni-Cd batteries are chemically very similar and when both are fully charged the battery voltage will start to drop. The Ni-MH voltage drop is much more subtle and more difficult to detect. Ni-MH chargers usually have an over temperature sensor and shutoff to prevent to overcharge as well as a more sensitive voltage drop detector where Ni-Cd chargers usually only use the voltage drop to determine when to stop charging. If you charge Ni-MH batteries in a Ni-Cd charger it will probably miss the voltage drop and keep right on charging causing the batteries to overheat. Overcharging and overheating Ni-MH batteries can damage them internally and reduce battery life.

I don't know what to do I'm only 14 my dad says thats it's probably because off I leave it on to charge to long. You see he says that the way I use it the charge adapter is to heavy so when I'm using the charger the port is forced to come down(PORT means the think you plug it to charge it.This causes the port to get lose if it get lose it can become on usable luckily you can send it to HP.But there's one thing you have to have purchase the warranty for the like year see me I have the warranty that comes for free which covers anything thats a a default defect and sorry my friend but it isn't a default defect.

My laptop isn't charging.
It did until today, even though I had to wiggle the jack in the socket until the "charge" icon lit up on my screen. I guess I've been lucky so far... I can't seem to get it in the right position anymore. Maybe it's a mechanical problem?
Hello, I am going to get a laptop very soon (hopefully tomorrow at some point), and where I live at

on/off button to turn it off. After I do that it doesn't restarts. Any suggestions?....

laptops (a little newer ones), it's fairly dimmer (even on brightest setting). Does anyone

OK, having major LCD issues on my laptop today. I have one of these no name brand (actually called

dark background...I can still see as I'm typing this. It's just going into a darker contrast
and back to normal. Then it will go completely black on me. Sometimes it comes back...when it
doesn't, I close the lid and open it back up again. Again, sometimes this works, oth....

This is more out of curiosity, since i've already sent my laptop in to the store for repair, but
they're not that adept at pinpointing the exact causes of problems sometimes, and so i'd
like to get other people's input on what it could be. Basically it's a laptop that i've

overheating. --yes, i've definintely found that to be true. I upgraded the memory to 1 GB

One of my friends has a Dell 600m which he bought around the same time as me. We pretty much have
the exact same specs, but my processor and video memory is a little better. He has been having
problems since the time he got the laptop with it overheating to the point of it locking down.
I'll agree that the Dell 600m's from the Summer of 2003 will get way too hot for normal
laptop use. My laptop has only locked up once or twice for me because of it overheating, but his
computer will lock up every time he doesn't have it on a cooling pad. And even then the....

I had my laptop for over a year and suddenly one day it won't hold the charge in the battery
anymore. So I thought it was a bad battery...sent it in to be repaired and the techs said it's
not the battery. Tested ok. They said it was the charging port. Warranty was over already so I dealt
with the issue...about 3 years now. I want to know how to repair this. Do I have to change the whole
motherboard to replace that battery compartment area? Or is there an easier way to do this? The
laptop is a Prostar 6194. Thanks.....
Hey all, I own a Samung NV 5000 laptop and the battery could now only last for 30-45 minutes :s. I
read from here: Apple Notebook Batteries that it would be best to discharge your battery once a

I recently bought an ATI Radeon 9250 256mb, my computer comes with an nVIDA nforce chipset (Driver:
nVIDA Geforce 2 Integrated GPU, VGA compatible). It worked great at first but later i started having
problems. Logan (Deathbringer) helped me get it working again...sortof. What he told me to do was to
uninstall the previous nVIDA drivers and use a driver cleaner to erase everything the uninstaller
did not. It made sense, then i was to put the Radeon card in, start in safe mode and uninstall the
Radeon drivers and clean off all the ATI drivers using the DC again. I restart....
Today I opened up the laptop and took out the hard drive. There seems to be something loose in
there. Could it be the arm that reads the data on the hard drive's platters? I didn't
shake it, but just turned it over and heard a little moving piece in there. Any hard drive testing
programs out there that I can use? This makes me ask another question. Are all laptop hard drives
the same? I'm planning on getting another one for this laptop if I can. This laptop has a 2.0
GHz processor with 768MB RAM (added 512MB myself). Any limit on the max. HDD space I....

Well, here's the good news - MIT Media Labs are currently developing a $100 laptop. The bad
news is that they're only available to deserving children under the auspices of certain NGOs and
charitable organisations. The current plan is to offer a 500 Mhz processor with a 1 GB
Flash drive for storage. It will run a Linux-based OS designed to function minimally. The three
amazing things that I found about this were: 1. Integrated Wi-Fi access 2. A colour LCD display
which switches to Black & White mode when used outdoors to conserve energy ( That&....
I bought an older laptop off ebay. It worked great for awhile and one day my daughter knocked it
over and when I started it I got a blue screen of death along with a stop error. Since then I have
tried reformatting the old hard drive, once in awhile I can get it to work. I even borrowed a
functioning hard drive from a friend and with both I keep getting a o/s not found error. I'm
not sure if I am dealing with bad sectors here or what. When it starts to act up I can hear a

Okay - now that I've started thinking about "laptop" and "notebook," I have a question for

I noticed this earlier last year. My laptop was slowing down and it was getting really hot. It was
so bad that it overheated and stopped working for periods of time. Well maybe it might happen to you
laptop users. Take a look on your CPU fan vent on your laptop (underneath). Spot lots of dust? Get
an air can and dust it out! All sides of the vent. Dust will cause heat to build more rapidly in the
CPU in laptops. Since the CPU is mobile and since its getting hot fast it will work with the
powersave in mind, lowering even more performance. After I got my laptop cleaned, it....
