Apple Computer Inc. on Tuesday lauched a new 1-GB iPod nano, priced at $149.
The new iPod nano is distinctive in the company's device lineup for its ultrathin design, which Apple boasts is thinner than a pencil.
The nano is sharply discounted from the 4-gigabyte and 2-gigabyte iPod nanos currently available on the market.
The company also said it is cutting prices on 512 MB and 1 GB iPod shuffles to $69 and $99, respectively. Before the price cuts, a 512 MB shuffle could cost roughly $100, while a 1 GB shuffle could cost about $129.
"Now everyone can afford an iPod Nano," said Greg Joswiak, Apple's vice president of worldwide iPod product marketing, in a statement. He added that the iPod is the world's most popular digital music player, with over 40 million sold so far.
"With lower pricing, someone might buy a Shuffle for the car, and another one for the gym, and one for the office," said Forrester analyst Ted Schadler. "That strategy makes the iPod an accessory rather than the center of the digital music experience. That benefits Apple because it can sell more." Enditem

Yes, this is what I'm squirreling my cash away for as of late.
The specs and the price are a great combination. Too good to pass up, in my opinion. Especially because I've been lusting after one of those dandy iPods for about 3 years now, but never had the initiative/cause to justify saving that much. Now it's only about $150, that's great! Can't wait to get my hands on it.
It's sort of pointless though if you think about it. It can't really carry much stuff. But I suppose it is sort of good for those that can't really afford much or just want the Nano not because for vast amounts of music but for the fact that it looks awesome.
yeah its pretty good some of these new products are expensive as heck.. I mean either you eat for a month or you give up eating for a month just to save for a new ipod.
it would just be nice if this happened to alot more products out there.. I mean pretty much every new product out there is way above most of our budgets..
Your right Apple products are over priced...I would look for a cheaper better alternative..you just know theres a better one out there for less money I know I do... Contrary to thier hype Apple didnt invent the mp3 player A Much Better Alternative to Apples Ipod
More bang for your buck wins with me everytime! and look at how many products you can choose from-in soo many colours too...gotta love that top of the range Zen player..kicks the Ipods ass!
creative is definately a better alternative.. well i cant really say better but maybe a cheaper alternative as far as pricing goes.. the quality is good, but apple is up there.
I hate the iPod Nano because it is so easy to scratch.
My friend has one and he can literally run his fingernail on the back of it and it permnantly scratches it. Also, when you hold it in your hand it just feels so delicate, almost like you can snap it in half.
I hate how they also created their own sound format. It makes burning the music you OWN onto cd's to listen really hard.
well i bought a simple mp3 player and i have not yet had any problems with it. the brqnd was Rio its a 1gb and it serves its purpose. im able to go out and about with my mp3 player I love it, and it was not even expensive..
yeah even at that price it's still too pricy just to play a few music files.
I bought a 128mb one for $30, nice and small for skateboarding or running around just sitting in my pocket and I have had it for about 7/8 months or more now and it's still goin hard.
I'm considering getting a new one soon with a bit more storage though but not sure on what to get. I know these newer iPod's are pretty small but I like smaller .

The next generation of iPod is almost out, the iPod touch. Loooking very similar to the new iPhone,
it does the same kind of thing as the iPhone, except t doesn't call people. It has WiFi, 3.5
inch screen, the same black colour as the iPhone, touchscreen (the famous iPod scroll wheel is
gone!) The new iPod comes in two versions, similar to the iPhone, at 8gb and 16gb. The starting
price is US$299. Supposedly, battery life is at 22 hours for music and 5 hours for videos. For more

Human cells are producing energy constantly. Nanotechnology is capturing that energy to do useful
things. Last year the University of Georgia had made great strides with it by using zinx oxide
which is nontoxic. Now at the " target="_blank">University of Edinburgh , a nanomachine has been
created that runs by itself. Maybe eventually our own body could power an iPod through
nanotechnology.....
Belkin's TuneStudio , another recent introduction at the Consumer Electronics Show
(CES) as well as at MacWorld Expo , is this wonder gizmo that turns your fifth generation
iPod into a full-fledged mixing station . TuneStudio innovates on one of iPod's weaknesses
- recording music - and proves once over again that with the right kind of accessories the iPod
can be used virtually for anything related with music. Read full story .......
Today Microsoft has officially launched their answer to iPod, Zune. Looking at it, it looks
suspiciously like its counterpart, iPod; almost exactly the same design. The Zune is a 30GB music
player with a few different that Microsoft considers their competitive advantages. Support more
format - one of the advantage Zune have over iPod is the ability to support multiple popular music
file formats than iPod. Wireless sharing – you can wirelessly share Zune to Zune. Zune lets you
spontaneously share full-length sample tracks of your favorite songs, homemade recordi....
LMFAO .. the title says it all .. but if you really want to read the whole story .. then here you go
.. QUOTE Jason Bunch a Colorado teen was listening to his iPod while mowing the lawn on a
Sunday afternoon which was when he got struck by lightning. Next what he knew was that he was in
bed bleeding from his ears and throwing up. He was also unaware how he got back inside. His face was
burned all the way down to his hip where his iPod was. His family claim his iPod attracted the
lightning bolt but it didn't hit bigger things such as trees. Gregory Stewart, an....
An american consumer takes Apple to cort saying that he has earing problems caused by Apple Ipod
Player. This device can produce 115 decibels, a volume that can damage the ears when some is exposed
28 seconds/day. This is the argument contested in cort used by a Louisiana, EUA consumer. His name
is Jhn Kiel Patterson, e declaime that iPod has an low desing profile and doesn't include manual

I just read this in Maximum PC, December 2005 issue that "sellers of iPod-related accessories were
recently forced to remove the music-device's trademarked name from product names and website
URLs. Thus, iPodlounge.com, for example, must now be called iLounge.com. Sellers were also" told how
they can refer to Apple products, "...including the demand that the iPod always be referred to as an
Apple iPod Device." How about that? I always thought that Microsoft would be the first to enforce
something like this for their trademarked names... haha.. go Apple.. /tongue.....
I'm not suprised that they finally showed the video Ipod today. Many people for the past few
years have been wildly speculating that Apple would pull this card. Link to the story here:
Bloomberg At first I came to believe that watching videos on a display this small would not be
worth it. The smallest thing I would have watched anything on was maybe a small laptop. But what got
me excited about this Ipod was rumors about buying episodes of your favorite TV shows through Itunes
for cheap prices, around 1.99 for each one. Imagine watching the Wire or your favorite....
Last week, Apple introduced two new products - the new and very sleek & slim iPod Nano and the
so-called "iPod Phone" (officially the Motorola ROKR) that will debut in the US and other areas in
association with telecom giant Cingular Wireless. First, here's the dope on the device that is
in all likelihood be more useful to me than the other - the iPod Nano. An ultra-thin style and a
height not more than that of a regular pencil make the Nano stand out from the rest of the pack.
Apple devices usually look better than most, but his one also pushes performance. I....
According to Mac News World, iPod shuffle has grabbed a 58 percent share of the flash-based digital
media player market in less than six months, up from 43 percent in February. what a successful
product! This is quite supprite me, I thing iPod shuffle is not the best digital media player in
the market. some good product with color screen and more features are available in the market as
well. But why iPod shuffle just grabbed more market share?? That;s an interesting question...
