How To Install Invisionfree Forums To My Site?

I'm afraid that Invisionfree forums cannot be uploaded to your own site. They must be hosted on their servers, unless you buy Invision Power Board. You can just put the link. It's a bit of a nuisance, but you are getting a paid board for free, so I can't really complain.

Good standalone forums would be phpBB and SimpleMachines. Eazy installation steps for both and loads of mods/modules available.

On the other hand if you want something thats integrated (Forums+Website+Portal..) like a complete CMS then i'd suggest e107. Probably the only CMS i would trust with everything integrated and eazy to use settings. Plus a huge user base and loads of plug-ins / themes

I don't see any reason you would want to install invisionfree for a forum. Like they said. I don't think you can do it, but there is alot of better board then invisionfree. It's alot easier to handle then other forums, but it isn't professional. The IPB boards like this is the most professional I've seen. What I wouldn't give just to be able to add comments in peoples profile and stuff.

Maybe you can check out zetaboards when they come out. They should be out in like a month or so.

Isn't it better to just put a link to the forum? Is it really necessary to have it uploaded to your site? It wouldnt make any real difference, in my opinion. But a phpBB forum would work, i guess.

The Free Version of IPB 1.3 can be used only if you got it when it was available, now it is no longer available. So you cannot use it.

Try the alternatives like SMF, XMB, phpBB with categories MOD. or better wait till phpBB 3 is released, it has all the features of IPB and it is free.

Yep, as WeaponX said .. why dont you upload compressed files ? Aight Try this ..

1) Go to phpBB and get this file >>HERE<< .. its the "phpBB 2.0.22 Full Package" in a ZIP format.
2) Now, it depends on where you want to install the forums, if its in "ROOT" thats in public_HTML then your ZIP archive should have all the files of phpBB listed when opened. If incase you want it installed like http://www.site.com/forums .. then well your upload path would be "public_HTML/Forums".
3) For now i would suggest you install it as http://www.site.com/forums and play around with it till you get a better understanding of how this works.
4) Upload the ZIP you just downloaded from the link above to your hosting account .. into public_HTML thats "ROOT". Once uploaded click on the file name and on your right hand top you will see a few options. One of those options would be "Extract File Contents". Just click it once and it will extract everything into a folder called "phpBB2".
5) Now select the folder phpBB2 by clicking on its name and on your top right column choose "Rename File". Rename it to forums.
6) I assume you know how to make a database in MySQL so i wont go there. Just make shure that before you go through, make the config.php file writable to 666 by changing permissions.

If you run into any specific problems while installation then post a screenshot or just ask here
