hahaha, couldn't resist. But yea it's cool that they are out but I wont be buying one anytime soon. I'll get a PS3 before I drop 500+ bucks on either an hd-dvd player OR a blu-ray player. It's cool but like always the first wave of the new tech is way too pricey

Haha, I still don't even have a regular DVD player. Unless you count the fact that my computer can play DVDs. But I don't because that's not why I bought the thing - I've played maybe ONE DVD the whole time I've had it.

But I'm actually going to get off my lazy butt and go DVD-player shopping over the summer, when I'm not busy with school. They're cheap now - the regular versions, I mean - but I'm willing to bet that the price will drop a little more now that the new players are coming out.

TDK just announced that they have developed ways to increase the capacity of Blu-Ray to a whopping 200GB. That's on the par with the next generation of storage devices, the holograms right? That's where I think HD-DVD will fail. Oh oh oh! Also just like the PS2, seems like the PS3 will be THE Blu-Ray player as standard.

It's good stuff but I wont be get a High Definition DVD Player until a lot later... Wait till it goes down a bit.

Is the difference noticable when watching a HD DVD and also do you need a High Definition TV or will they work on any TV?

Just wonderin.

Oooh, they have "Last Samurai" on HD-DVD, I have to go get that soon. That movie was very stunning and eye grabbing. Too see it in High Definition would be a treat.

HD-DVDs already?

Well, I don't have an HD-DVD player yet. I have had a HD tv for about five months and I'm still paying for it (bloody hire-purchase, it'll cost 50% more than the sale price from when we first got it, which was about £900, and it's now in the shops for £500! mad.gif ).

Anyway, that's beside then point. Even if I had a HD-DVD player, I don't rate the available titles much, so I think I'll wait til they bring out some films I'd actually care to watch before throwing more money out the window.

Having said that, at least my daughter can't feed biscuits to the DVD player like she can the VCR. (Yes, I still have one!)
