Frustrating Problem With XP On Laptop

I bought an Acer Aspire 5601WLMI for $850 after rebates. It has an AMD Turion 64 X2 ML-50 processor,
2 GB DDR2 ram, 120GB hard drive, 15.4 in brightview widescreen, etc. I did alot of online research
before i bought it, as I don't like Acers, and would have gone for a Compaq or Dell had i had
more time. But it seemed to get pretty high reviews, and on notebookreview.com it was in the top 5.
But has anyone here had any experience with one of them, and can shed more light on whether i made
myself a deal or a lemon? Also, say i was to try out Linux on it, would i run i...

When ever i turn my laptop on it hangs after i put in my User password /mad.gif' border='0'
style='vertical-align:middle' alt='mad.gif' /> I have not changed anything.. How can i solve this

I want to buy a laptop for school. So, what I need is a laptop that can run at least 2-3 hours, the
more, the better. I realy do NOT want a relfective screen, these are so annoying and we have a lot
of windows in our school. Other things I'd like: 1Gb ram (at least) 80Gb HDD(at least) a rather
descent graphics card, because I'd like to do some gaming on the laptop too (some lessons are
freaking boring /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=" ). Dual Core CPU (slow model is
good enough) my budget is ~ €1200 I've never had a laptop before (ok...

well my current dell laptop is a inspiron 1000 which is complete crap. it's been terrible almost
a month after i got it for christmas...i'd say a year and a half ago. It was low on memory two
months later! i got more upgraded and it was still crap. recently the screen has been blacking out
while the computer remains active and continues to do it every time i get past the loading screen
but instead of pouring more money into my sad little laptop I've decided to spring for a new
one. I'm looking for one that's not too costly nothing above fifteen-hundre...

I am looking around at laptops and wondering what is the best one for playing games and doing
graphic design? I currently have a dell xps gen 1 and it's pretty good but not portable enough
to be very usefull I really like the voodoo envy systems but they are way out of my price range ; ;
Alienware looks good too Any thoughts/suggestions? Looking for a 6 lb or lighter gaming laptop
for at most $2k prefer one for about 1200ish tho honestly...

Alright, so I've finally come to the conclusion that I want to spend some cash on a notebook
computer. It is not going to be a desktop replacement by any means, I just want something portable
to take to class, do some coding on, surf the web, the basics. It'll be nice not being tied to
my desk when I feel like doing some coding or whatnot... the living room shall become my homework

I purchased new laptop and at present i'm using soundblaster Audigy 2nx external USB box and
recently soundblaster has introduced new Audigy2zs PCMCIA card.So is there any other best external

Hey, I'm be going to school in a year or so, and I've been looking for a laptop, I'm
not really desperatly in need for one, but I do need one that's relatively cheap so that if it
gets broken while transfering back and forth from school with me, I can be mad, but not furious.
It's a lot easier to take notes with a laptop, and it also saves a lot of time and money so you
don't have to buy a whole new computer for at school. And of course it makes it easy if you get

Is there anyway to transfer data from a standard PC slave drive to a laptops hardrive without having
the PC HDD installed in a PC? I realise this is a somewhat silly question as the HDD would need to
be powered somehow. I just dont want to have to track down a PC just so I can grab a few Gigs of
data off of it....

Hey, I want to buy an apple laptop. I have a dell computer in my house. THe laptop allready has
Microsoft(with all the microsoft programs), photoshop cs, and a couple other programs. My first
question is... Can I transfer the files,(like reports and things that I have typed out on Word from
the laptop) to my Dell at home. And can I transfer graphics that I have made on photoshop on my
Dell at home, to the Photoshop on the Apple Laptop. Does the Apples laptop have a USB and
