| | QUOTE(jovita @ Sep 4 2008, 09:34 PM) If you can get over with the initial confusion gimp will turn out to be a good choice. Its user interface is not the most intuitive one. The best is to get an introduction from a gimp user; if not from one of those training videos. I agree with jovita, The Gimp is your best choice, now, there are some others programs if you don't need all the advanced features of this program.

QUOTE(ardent11 @ Jul 30 2006, 10:12 PM) I reccomend using GimpShop, heres the unofficial site http://www.gimpshop.net/I think that should be http://www.gimpshop.com. Yet another Linux user, Gimp is what I use. But then, I really really hate the lack of folders in Gimp layers. Photoshop can do so much more than Gimp mainly because of that one function.

QUOTE(TavoxPeru @ Jul 30 2006, 03:47 AM) yeah, i just try it and my first impression is that its interface is more friendly than the gimp.
regards, TavoxPeru supplied a link to gimpshop. Following that link got me to a page that says in part: Buy this domain / Interested in this domainname? Contact ...I'm guessing that "Gimpshop" died since that was posted a little over a month ago. I too have used gimp, but found it difficult. It appears that graphic artists use a mouse in a way that is intuitive to them, but confusing to me...

Many of use use a Tablet. Very common with Photoshop users. A lot of pros actually start from a pencil & paper sketch scanned in as this flows better then trying to draw directly to screen.

Gimp is OK it is not Photoshop's equal by ant stretch of the imagination however. Regardless it is certain to be sufficient for non-professional use. Where Photoshop truly separates itself from itself from other applications is in print. Last I checked Gimp had nothing for color trapping or any spot color options. It does not really need them though. Photoshop elements is a good option for not too expensive but with some of the more professional options of CS3.

You could crack CS3 or CS4 (not endorsed by me) but i would have to say the best free alternative is GIMP. Features are ALMOST as good as photoshop and for software that is free I would say its definitely worthwhile to check out!

Cannot Install Adobe Photoshop Cs3
(30) Hi, I have been trying to install adobe photoshop cs3 for a little over a week now. The problem is
when I'm installing at the end it says it has successfully installed shared components, but has
failed to install photoshop cs3 and shared components. This is really annoying because nothing that
I have found on the internet helps. Other people have had the same problem, but thats because they
have installed beta versions, which I didn't install! I have tried the CS3 clean-up tool from
adobe - that doesn't help either! The only other adobe/macromedia products....

Old "graphing" Program (logo?)
(4) I remember back in the early 1990's that there was a program used for creating images based on
graphing points (x, y axis I assume). I have searched high and low for this old program and was told
it was called LOGO. I tried looking for it and found many varieties of it and none of them seem to
be the one I recognized and used back then. I think the coding is similar to something like: 30
circle (10,20) or something like that. I might have some old scrap paper of it in my closet. I
will try to dig some up if I can find them. Does anyone remember using this progra....
Anyone Tried Photoshop CS3?
(25) Has anyone here installed the beta of CS3? If so, how do you find it? Do you think it's worth
the upgrade? I don't know if it's only because it's a beta, but for one, it loads much
faster than CS2 for me. I like minor things about it, such as the redesigned tools bar, the dynamic
resizing of palette windows, quick select, and smart filters, but I'm not sure that's worth
my money to go and shell out for it. The rest of the new stuff I wouldn't use enough to offset
the cost. Here is a list of the new features: So what do you think? QUOTE A ....

Photoshop Cropping Problem
(9) All right. For most of my Photoshop work, I use Photoshop 6.0. Yes, I know it's old, but it
gets the job done, not to mention I just don't have the money of Photoshop CS or Photoshop CS2
right now. But I'm getting off topic. Anyways, a few months ago, when I went to crop a
picture, it wouldn't crop all the way. It would crop to a certain point and then just stop and
refused to go any further with the cropping box. It seems to only form squares and sometimes
horizontal rectangles, but only to a certain extent. However, when I opened Adobe Photosho....

images other than Photoshop? I actually have Photoshop 8.0 CS, but I'd like to know if there
was a simpler application to use. I don't need any sophisticated tools, really. All I want is
for that application to allow font and color editing of .PSD files. Thanks in advance. Cheers.
