I seem to be having problems with firefox. I try to open firefox, and XP gives me the default "firefox has encoutered an error and must be shut down..." Anyway, I tried installing the new version, and It doesn't make a difference. I uninstalled, and reinstalled it, but it still does it.
Do you have SP2? That causes alot of errors with "External" browsers (Browsers that do not come with Windows, Meaning all except AOL and Internet explorer). Probaly what you want to do is take SP2 out, set the browser that you run on right now as the main browser, then if you feel like you really need SP2 although I don't recommend it, you can re-download and re-install it. Then everything should work fine.
The only problem is, is that it was working fine with sp2 for over 6 months. If taking sp2 out will work, how do I do it? I'm not aware of any way you can remove a service pack.
I'm just about positive that my computer is clean. I do the same as you, except I run an adware detector also. I'm just about ready to reformat my hard drive. I can't live without my firefox. I need tabs, extensions and themes.
i had a similar problem and i just cleaned my computer with Microsoft anit-spyware beta to delete the trojan horse that was keep changing my browser settings. if you clean your computer and make sure your default mozilla files are not tampered with you should be able to use Mozilla right away.
WHY DONT YOU JUST REINSTALL THE FIREFOX OR CONTACT THE FIREFOX SUPPORT TEAM FOR HELP.....NOT SO COMPLICATED EH....?
Notice from moonwitch:
If you had read what Kevlar said, he has reinstalled FF several times, and there's no need whatsoever to SHOUT (don't type all caps) and there certainly is no need for rudeness. This got you a warning
Hi all, Does anyone know where I can get hold of performance stats on how long Firefox take to open
really large websites (like > 500k of xhtml). I have done some initial tests with a page of around
1MB and found that Firefox just stops for about 5mins while it gets over the shock. I could go
though and test a lot more combinations, but I hoping to find some performance tests that show the
point where Firefox starts to degrade. Cheers, Hoopa....

This has been posted at the MozillaZine Forums by me, but I think that people here will have
different responses as well and I want to see different opinions:
QUOTE("http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=593161") I want to burn a CD with Firefox on
it, but a special version of Firefox. 1. It will only display the HTML files on the CD, and it
shouldn't connect to the Internet. 2. Extensions shouldn't be able to be added, I want to
add the extensions that I want then burn the thing onto CD. 3. Title bar needs to be changed to

The latest Firefox browser, Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8.1.6)
Gecko/20070725 Firefox/2.0.0.6, has lots of problems. I find that it does not work well with .asp
pages, crashes often when browsing .jsp pages and when it crashes it deletes your page history.
These are just a few of my huge list of problems. I would use Safari, but it is not very secure.

There are many people fighting over which one is best. So, I think it is best if we clear this idea
up once and for all, lol. Use the poll at top to decided which one is best. Oh and in my
opinion... . GO FIREFOX!!! /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0"

QUOTE BETA Disclaimer This is a comparison of two beta products; things are going to change
before either organization suggests the general public try them out. Hopefully some of the
problems/quirks will get worked out in the process. Round 1: Tabbed Browsing The one feature
that got me hooked on Mozilla-then-Phoenix-then-Firebird-then-Firefox (they had some naming issues)
was tabbed browsing. For the last few people who haven’t already found out for themselves,
tabs are a simple concept that help to keep life (or at least your web pages) organized. For th....
Hi all, I have observed that there's a lot of difference in the rendering of firefox and IE.
The websites designed for IE that involve some sort of DHTM menus or some javascript codes don't
open smoothly in Firefox. I don't kbnow the reason. I have searched google a lot of times but no
clue about what and where does the difference lies in th e rendering engines of Firefox and IE. Does
any one has some information about that?? Thanx in advance. Regards.....

I love this Firefox feature. It allows the screen to scroll very smoothly as opposed to jerkily. To
enable it: Go to "about:config" in Firefox (address bar). In the filter box, enter:
general.smoothScroll Double click on the option below the filter box. Restart Firefox and you will
now be scrolling smoothly all over the web! /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D"

Hi guys, I just stumbled upon this cool tool called StumbleUpon - http://www.stumbleupon.com .
You simply sign-up with them and download their toolbar. They got it for almost all the major
browsers on Win/Lin/Mac platforms. This adds a new toolbar to your browser with a couple of icons
like Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down, A page Review editor, Your own Reviews Bookmark, Chat etc...very small
and compact download for Firefox - only 85K. When you browse to any site, you just click on the
thumbs up/down icons to give your rating to a site. If you happen to be the first perso....
Hi, I just recently downloaded and began using Mozilla's Firefox 1.6 as my web browser, but for
some reason, whenever I try to go to a site that uses a Flash plugin, Mozilla refuses to let me
download the plugin. I mean, it tries, but it never works. Does anyone else have the same problem
with Mozilla or have heard of this happening? its not that big of a deal, because I can still use
Internet Explorer, but Mozilla is just much safer in general, so I'd rather use that. Any
advice, answers or ideas would be very welcome. thanks in advance.....
Ok, i sufered a HD TOTAL FAILIURE.. so i downloaded firefoz again.... I had to get all the

I love firefox also, but I'm looking for a barebones browser that just basically has an address
bar and favorites. I tend to lean towards simple programs, such as Media Player Classic (
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.p...ackage_id=84358 ) which is a tiny little program that
can play almost any media type (music mp3s, ogg, wmv, etc...video's like .mov, .avi, divX
encoded, etc....images like jpgs, gifs, etc...). MPC is a "barebones" program so to speak - there
is nothing fancy about it at all, but it is a simple program that is extremely versatile. A....
there was a useful post pointing vulneribility to the older version of firefox to phising, so i

stuff and no answers, has anyone had the same problem? chris thank goodness for IE, it never lets
you down or loses your favourites or stops working, just lets a few pop ups in occasionally!....
I've noticed how much Mozilla Firefox looks really like Internet Explorer. It seems that the
only thing they did was change the buttons, add RSS, and tabs. What's going on here? Even when
you right click, it looks the same as in IE. What do you know about this? Is this built off of IE
or something? How is that legal?....

This is about a new flaw in Internet Explorer and how it renders one of the most common image
formats in the web, the "JPEG". The code that enables a hacker to exploit this flaw is out to the
public and therefore in a matter of a couple of weeks, we'll be expecting a new virus that uses
this exploit. The GDIplus DLL (Graphic Device Interface plus) or gdiplus.dll is only enabled in
Windows 2000 & XP. So if you're running on an older version of Windows and if you've
upgraded to XP SP2, then you're not vulnerable to this exploit. Read more about it here ....
