I own an alien ware mx 15 laptop and its great real quiet and I love it, I havent had any problems with it it runs games great and is a very fast computer but u have to make it fast and it does cost a quite a bit, but I like it, but I'm sure u can find a cheaper system with the same specs or even better specs, so I would recomend doing that but if u want an alienware they really are great computers and look great, but I own a laptop so not sure about the computers I build my own when it comes to...

How Fast Are Alienware Computers Really?

carlosab23
Hey I was thinking of buying a computer at alienware. I maxed out most of the settings and the price was about 10000$.
How fast is the Area-51 ALX System? If the computer is as fast as the cheaper ones I'd gladly buy them.
BTW I am hooking up the computer to a Gateway XHD3000 30-inch as full resolution. Would that make a difference in the computer?

Unfortunately, I don't have an answer, but I'm definitely going to keep a keen eye on this thread hoping for one!

I've been tinkering with the idea of getting me an Alienware computer for a while now. When I say "a while," I mean close to a year! That's because not only are Alienware products stupendously expensive (particularly the power-horse I have in mind), but living in Egypt is going to cost me a true fortune in customs.

So yes, if anyone has any experience whatsoever with Alienware computers, please do share it with us.

I don't have direct experience with them but have stories from friends and a generally advanced knowledge of computers. Now I haven't looked at alienware systems super recently but after all that is said and done they are usually ridiculously fast and powerful system. Sadly this doesn't necessarily mean they are a good choice for purchase.

Now, if you have more money then you know what to do with go ahead and buy one, why not? If you care about bang for buck these might not be the best choice. While I've never heard anything particularly negative about them it's possible to buy systems with equivalent specs, potentially a better looking case (I hate alienware cases haha) etc for much cheaper. $10K is simply ridiculous even though I know a lot of that is extra huge ass monitors. Try going to sites that let you customize a system yourself and price a system with the same specs as the one you are looking at on alienware and see what happens.

Again, alienware seems like a great line of computers but being over priced value per $ is my main concern. Maybe someone with one will post to shed more light.

I don't have experience with alienware computers either, but I do know they wouldn't be any faster than an equal configured system which would be cheaper. Alienware's are all about quality, you get high quality components, a bios configured to get better performance, a nice looking case, mouse, keyboard, ... and maybe even an overclocked cpu and watercooling. But again, you pay for these quality configurations.

But, like I've said before, you can get a system that's as fast as an alienware pc at a lower price ... but you'll have to live with it being ugly tongue.gif

Nope, HP bought VoodooPC, the competitor of Alienware. Dell is the one that bought Alienware .

Alienware is probably the fastest gaming computer I have used. My friend has an Alienware PC, and not only is the computer fast, but it looks great on the outside too! They always have the fastest gaming PCs, but I have noticed they update their computers a lot, so you may be in the dust while they release more and more updates to their PCs.

Sadly, this happens a lot in the computer world, so you can't do anything about it sad.gif

Hope this helps you a little biggrin.gif

The brand Alienware doesn't make computers faster. You have to look at the CPU, memory, motherboard, and the graphics chip to see if it's fast.

I can build a computer with Alienware's specifications and it will still be fast as if I spent the extra for the brand name.

I'd rather custom build my machines. (Which I did with the gaming rig, $500 and can play Crysis quite fine. Obviously not at the highest settings for the price but would have to spend double that if I bought it from a manufacturer).

I do not recommend Alienware, there prices are really high for what you get. First, there motherboards are usually cheap and old. Second, you can get way more by building your own PC. It's really simple and theres plenty of websites that can explain the parts you need and what you should look for more power.

Alienware computers are quite fast, as they use mostly the top and best performing hardware in each of the components of their computers. However, for the privilege of the brand name and the fast computer components, you are paying a premium price for your computer.

You are better off buying a custom-built computer that you build yourself, since you will get a better deal for yourself. I also, like others in this forum, had my computer custom-built (although I had it built by a known systems builder who had a friendly relationship with my dad and discounted some of the prices forus).

How Fast Are Alienware Computers Really?

Alien-ware was a premium computer but that was also before Dell bought Them out and striped them down sacrificing performance and reliability For profit which is what the American computer industry tends to do With the best of any given field. I work with computers day in and day Out and I can say given my years of experience that I have seen many computer companies rise to the top of the pile and tumble to the bottom. Some you may remember... Commodore, Tandy, Atari, IBM to name a few. The reign of alien-ware is unfortunately Over but there have been many capable and even more daring companies That have risen with the idea of the gaming PC being a viable product. Some companies have developed whole divisions strictly for the R and D Of gaming PC's. Some companies only make Gaming PC's. Currently I have been using computers from a company called BLACKBOXX. They are small computer company that has a strong community and product tie.

They build computers for the customers and don't tell the customer what they have to have but offer them options. Also on their site, they have articles writen for the care of PC's. They offer a warranty of 2 years on all computers and allow each customer serveral options to help suite the customers needs. I have done the math and frequently for the same computer from other companies they are charging half of the price. I would encourage everyone to check out their site if you are looking for a truly reliable fast and inexpensive computer. www.Blackboxxpc.Com

Alienware is very good. but what you have to really have to look for is hardware.
If you see an alienware computer with the exact same hardware as a HP or a DELL then it's not really going to be any better.
However alienware lasts a lot longer. their stuff isnt cheep i"ll tell you that much. they make really good quality items so yeah if you have the money go for an alienware

I havnt owned an alienware but my friend has so i know how they are. as for me I built my own computer which is a good idea if you know how. but with building a computer you have the be VERY VERY CAREFUL not only do you have to be careful doing it. but you have to careful not to have any conflicting hardware which can be bad sad.gif

Cheers laugh.gif
