Lately I have purchased a couple large box sets of tv series on dvd and since they cost a fairly good chunk of cash, I was hoping to back them up so I could use the backups to view and keep the originals in pristine condition. I was wondering what the best software/methods are for ripping and backing up these dvds. I've heard there is some software that can do it quite well, but that was a fairly long time ago and I'm not sure if there is any software that is currently known as the 'best'.
Thanks for any assistance, and again I'd like to reiterate that it's illegal in most places to copy media that you did not purchase, so don't use any information supplied here for those purposes. |

DVDShrink, it also 'fixes' the encryption, although it takes a bit a time for it to process stuff.

I agree with dvdshrink. And if your DVD media is too small, it allows you to remove useless things (like a language you don't need) in order to save place.

Yea I tried out dvd shrink and its working wonderfully, great quality and the compression is working solidly to keep then to a good size for a normal dvd. Thanks for the input guys

Hmmm... I use Nero 7 Vision for DVD ripping. You can create menu, decode videos and much more. For copy to HDD I Use DVD Decrypter and I thinks it's good.

Lots of good ripping programs are available. One i wouldn't recommend is DVDXCopy. it sticks this disclaimer at the beginning of every copy, and if you try to back up your protected dvd, it will burn it completely to your blank dvd and tell you everything's fine, but just try to play it and you'll get halfway after which it will freeze. i know this is the software and not just a bad dvd because i tried it many times with lots of different dvds. even with some i first tried to backup via that software, and also ripped it and removed protections from the original with dvd decrypter after which i also burned that to dvd, and guess what? only the pre-ripped decrypted one worked properly. Conclusion: DVDXCopy only works on your homemade dvds. recommended programs: Dvd Decrypter Dvd Shrink Nero 7 Plus a worthwhile addition even if you don't have those programs is dvdidle or region free, to enable you to at least play any dvd.

A Good (any Video) To Dvd Software?
(8) I have tried quite a few and many of them have problems or don't give the desired output.
I'm in Australia so I need something that outputs to PAL and hopefully have the movie come out
the same as it went in. I have a NERO one as apart of my Nero burning package but often closes due
to annoying errors much like alot of software I have tried, (something preferably simple to use
would be nice as my younger autistic brother will need to use it also). It's mostly going to be

Best Burning/ripping Software
(5) I found nero to be pretty good for burning disks. It's easy to find the type of cd your going to
burn in its little StartSmart directory. As for cd ripping, i'm still searching /unsure.gif"

point, because it allows you to rip into mp3"pro" format for 30 songs or so. After that you have to
rip it to wma, and i find it annoying when i have to go and convert the songs to mp3.....

what's the best media center software (8) what do you guys think is the best media center software i already know media portal and windows
media center edition 2005. i know windows MCE is more stable, but the best of media portal is that
it's open source, everybody can make additional things for it. what software do you guys use,

Reverse Video
And software suggestions? (17) I am an amateur filmmaker, and I desperately need a video editing program that can reverse video. I
have tried using Fade to Black, which can reverse video, but when I mix down to an .avi, the file is

wanna merge those RM files into one big RM file. V101 apend to V100. Then V101, then V102..... I
did try Readl Editor which come with Helix Producer Plus 9. However, the perfroments become slower
and slower after 10 or 20 files were merged. I have about 40 RM files. It took huge amout of time
