| | I am considering taking a career involving computers. I was wondering what kind of computer field does everyone reccomend. I have been told that Computer Engineering is the biggest thing which pays the best money. I would like to be involved with working on computer parts and learning where everything goes. Also I would like the money to be good. Anyone have any suggestions as to what kind of computer field I should take? |

Well it matters, what kind of computer job would you like? I am a computer game programmer with A+ certified. A+ is a computer fixing, If you are a computer fixer you can get 20-30 an hour.

Well I am interested in how good the money pays, but I also want to enjoy my work and not be like one of those people who make lots of money, but they hate their job to the death. I'm interested in computer hardware and fixing computers, I also am interested in being involved with computer gaming.

interesting topic, going to follow it a bit, because I still don't know what do study next year. I might start programming, but I'm still not shure. There are so many things to do with computers. If I won't go with computer, I might start studying electronics.

Well what kind of skills do you have now? you might want to consider getting certified like killer here or go back to UNI and do some courses because todays world there are thousands of ppl just like you so your going to have some competition check this out for some good certifications www.comptia.org (Recently changed from .com)

Well I have only been taught things such as working with Microsoft Word, Publisher, Excel, Power Point. I haven't been taught much about computer hardware and I may want to get into that when I go to college.

In college there are many computer courses, which can all lead onto higher education, where you can go for more specialised courses.

I'm also thinking what to study, but I've still got time. Since I spend so much time in front of the computer - and I find it interesting - I just can't image myself doing anything else. Maybe it will be programming, maybe web design, maybe flash, 3dsmax, I don't know! @CroSpartacus Are you from Hrvatska

I'm not so sure about the computer repair profession in general. I just got this new job recently and the pay is not exactly great...I like the job and all but let's just say the job I'm in won't be making much more than $30,000 at least for now. Networking should be a hot area to go into. But like James_K said earlier, there will be others looking to work in this area. If you know friends or family in this area, start learning some networking and try to get a job from them...by recommendations, etc. This may sound corny, but knowing the right people can get you the job and hopefully excel in it  Good luck...

I just got accepted at a college of choice in pursuit of a degree in Bachelors of Applied Computer Science (BACs) which is main software development and my professional option (can be changed later) is Game Development. xboxrulz

I'd like to some day be a web designer, I'm interested in the graphical side of making websites and CSS and XHTML. I myself don't really want to work for a company or own a company, I just want to make websites for small and large businesses for a few grand (you can get that and more, it pays well). I'm not even in college yet though so I still have a few years until I can really start anything and do more with myself besides working at maccas, LOL. Also I'd like to use Joomla where possible, great CMS and I'm quite good with it. Thats all just me though and it sounds like you mean hardware stuff, insides of computers are boring if you ask me, and like I've always said, I'm a software person!

DBA's make good money. When just working on Access applications (the low end) $40 -$50 USD is normal.

I went to college for Computer Programming, and Computer Networking. I have learned many things in that time from software to hardware, and learning coding and scripting, and maintaining a computer. So there are a lot of professions out there... There is a huge need for many types of techs out there, but you need the qualifications and certifications... that is where the time and energy come into play... Not all PC work needs certification, but that also is where the real money is made. So the sky is the limit... you can learn Computer Sciences, and build computers. You can take Programming and create software or work off of softwares and create web applications. You can take Engineering and Networking and work on the hardware side of the craft. This is where you can maintain and upgrade the devices, and route each unit to each other, or throughout the world on the internet.

It is a cross of electronics and programming. Both hardware/software jobs are in-demand nowadays and have a competitive salary. Certifications are also a plus and advantages especially when you are applying for job.

How Do People Sit In Front Of The Computer All Day Long?

I can't get it to work (3) I have a 2.8 Dual core machine with a 17 inch monitor, 2 hard drives, a dvd burner, and a 350w power
supply. I have an 800w rated UPS, which according to the paper is supposed to give me around 8
minutes of power during a blackout. This is more of an issue than for most people, as here we have
an average of 8 power cuts a day during the 8 or 9 months of summer weather. The problem is that my
UPS doesn't really help any, because in a power cut it will go off as well for a second, and
then it comes back to life, but in that second my computer has gone off, and even tho....

any suggestions ? (4) My father is looking for a some kind of website where he can share documents with friends and
colleagues.The documents should only be accesible by his friends/colleagues, because some contain
sensitive data (eg. about work). The users also have to be able to give comments on the files. The
last requirement seems to be the hardest, because there are a lot of data-sharing sites available,

Need Some Help With Starting An Old Computer.
(4) My younger (mentally challenged heh!) brother got a PS2 a couple of days ago and hasn't touched
his computer since. My mum wanted me to start it up for her to do some online research for something

Did I Mess Up My Computer?
.exe files won't open (6) I installed php on computer at one point, then deleted it because, well I'm not exactly sure why
but that's another story. Anyway, now my .exe files won't open. I've been trying to
