thats a damn lot of kids! and they are just at the age where they will be playing games in class and getting distracted (the younger ones that is!) the older kids might actually find that useful, while some mays just play games too!
I wonder what specs the machines will be. My guess is a simple dual core, 40gb hard drive, integrated graphics, cd/dvd drive and wlan. Very simple, but I think thats all they would need! but who would say no to a free laptop!
Well, writing maths with a computer, I personally think that writing it with your hand is much better, writing a lot with your hand is much better, if everyone will forget how to write a simple letter or simple stuff, that will be stupid in some way.. For example, having a computer when you write something can be quite handy, for example you can write something and use Maple (a really great math software) to find something you need, it saves time and etc.

When a child gets a labtop, two things can happen. One they can eventually turn into a brilliant tech geek that can hack, and be so comfortable with the web that its hard to imagine that they will not succeed in life in their future. Or two, they will use their laptop to be introduced to porn, which Im sure everyone in the world with a computer have slipped into one time or another. But when a child have access or encountered porn on the internet, they can fall into a perverted state. They may end up doing things that only your imaginations can tell, haha, but on a serious note. It can harm their mental state at such a young age. Not know from what is right and wrong, because the content on the internet is very abrupt and disturbing.
i reckon it will actually cause some problems unless they put a filter on (although some people would no how to remove it).
cos i can see when ur sitting behind someone, youll be looking at their porn or they'll be playing games. its probably going to wreck the school, no one would learn anything or do anything because they would be playing games like they already do but thats only in a class where they are on the computers. laptop on school? laptop on each kid.. unlikely. having laptop is nice.. but i just like it to be in a computer lab or in the library or at home. one thing is for sure, i dont want my kid to be looking like a geek, watching porn all day and chatting nonsense during his free time. yup, they say that exposure to technology could give an edge.. isnt the labs, libs and home pc good enough? whats wrong with books? environmentally not friendly???? this is just one of those too much commercialization of corporations and tech fanatics that dont know much of early childhood development..
