Ide To Sata Adapters & Power Cable Splitters
- (9)
Been thinking of using these converters on my IDE hard drives so they are 'SATA
compliant'. I see that it will be using both the SATA type power connector and also a 4 pin
(floppy drive type) connector. Have anyone used these IDE to SATA adapters before? Are both power
cables required in order to make a drive operational? I will also be getting a SATA PCMCIA card for
my laptop and that's where this will play a important role. I have no idea how to give it power
if I want to use it as an external...what kind of cable to get for external use (4 pin connector...
VGA Monitor Cable Problems
- (12)
My cousin's computer seems to have a bad VGA monitor cable. The problem is that when I turn it
on, it seems to be ok, it says auto-configure....then it goes blank (orange light on monitor power
button). I looked at the VGA connector pins and see that pins 4 and 11 are missing. Just to be
curious, I looked at the end connected to the LCD and it's also missing pins 4 and 11. Is this a
coincidence? From what I found, these are what it corresponds to: 4 ID2 Monitor ID Bit 2 11
ID0 Monitor ID Bit 0 Is this responsible for the shot display and then blank screen? ...
Booting With A USB Drive ( Pen )
- Boot Norton Ghost with USB 2.0 (4)
Hi, What I want to do is to ghost computers with a 2gb USBDrive. We wanted to ghost some computers
without carrying the whole Ghost server. Sounds easy but I had some problems. First, it worked
perfectly in USB 1.0 wich is too slow for our needs. I found the USB 2.0 Dos driver and i'm
able to load it. After that, it needs another file to give back a letter to the Drive but it change
the drive letters and the booting stops there. I got a solution somewhere wich was to Make a
virtual drive to put the content to boot, switch to this drive to complete the booting bef...

Getting DVD Drive To Boot
- (5)
I'm not 100% sure this is the right place to post this but here goes. I'm trying to install
Linux on my Toshiba Portege laptop. The CD is working fine because I tested it on another computer
so that eliminates that problem. The DVD drive is part of the docking station but so is the Floppy
Disk Drive so that problem is out to as the Floppy drive works. I downloaded Smart Boot Manager and
ran it at system boot up but the DVD drive wasn't available to boot up. So I have ran out of
options as to what could be wrong. Any hints?...
