I've been using Avast for a few years now and I'm happy about it, except (and I've only recently found that out) the fact that it realy slows down Vista if you set it to scan dynamic libraries (dlls) on load. If that option is enabled, showing the send-to menu takes upto 15 seconds, showing the network-popup-thingy takes 5 seconds, network center is loaded after 7 seconds ...
I've now disabled it to speed things up and set it to scan every created or modified file, safety first you know

I gave a pentium 3 computer to a friend who doesn't know much about computers. Lo and behold
her family comes to live with her and they start playing games, entering into chats and myspace. Of
course, now system doctor from Internet Explorer is telling her she has a dangerous level of
viruses on her computer. Could you recommend the most cost effective antivirus software for her?

ok quick question .. Which is the Best antivirus software today for Linux .. I use SuSE 10.1 .. so
will they be compatible ? .. I am a freek when it comes to antivirus lol .. cause i use Norton for
windows .. and its served me well, from virus protection to Firewall. So is there any similar

Have you people checked out the NOD32 Antivirus by ESET. It is the best antivirus with a bundle of
awards and so. The best part is that it is very light on system resources while providing the best

Well, when I was using Norton, I would constantly get message that Windows Messenger had been
trying to access stuff (luckily, Norton blocked it). Well, when I switched to AVG after my update
subscription ran out, I realized that regular antivirus wouldn't take care of spyware. So, does
anyone know of free antispyware utilities? ....

So i sent in my computer to Best Buy after it crashed and they said the reason it crashed is because
of spyware. So they installed Norton Antivirus and Spysweeper and make me pay an extra $100. I
wanted to know if it was worth it? I mean 100 dollars is a lot of money and i wanted to know if

a while back i got EZ Antivirus.. the company was giving out free 1 year subscriptions. I used to
have Norton Antivirus, and I thought it was great except for the load up time. Anyway EZ Seems to be
really good, it loads quick, it protects well, and it was free haha. Has anyone else ever used it,
because i found out that i can get a year of norton for free through my school, and i was wanting
some opinions on if i should switch back to it or keep EZ. At the time I am leaning towards keeping
EZ just cuz i havent had any problems with it and im too lazy to uninstall it an....

OPk, i opened i topic about not being able to uninstall norton... the last post was about the "slow
down" effect of norton.... Can't unistall norton antivirus 2005 I'm oppening this topic
to get to know the antivirus... i'm currently using McAfee 9.0 wichi find excelente... I have

Ok, i wanted to install McAfee, so i know i can't install two anitivirus at the same time (the

alt="mad.gif" /> ) So, i unistalled norton antivirus... (so i thought)... i restarted... when i
tried to install mcafee it said that another antivirus was installes, so i checked the install
programs list.. and for my sorprise... there was the Norton Anitivirus... I tried to unistall it
and it says the is a newer version installed and that i have to remove it... on and on... WAH....
