| | Audiograbber is a beautiful piece of software that grabs digital audio from cd's. It copies the audio digitally-not through the soundcard-which enables you to make perfect copies of the originals. It can even perform a test to see that the copies really are perfect. Audiograbber can also automatically normalize the music, delete silence from the start and/or end of tracks, and send them to a variety or external MP3 encoders, such as Fraunhofers L3enc, or even use some MP3/WMA encoders internally for automatic creation of MP3's.
Audiograbber can download and upload disc info from freedb, an Internet compact disc database. You can even record your vinyl LP's or cassette tapes with Audiograbber and make wav's or MP3's of them. There are a lot more functions in Audiograbber, but to put it simply: Audiograbber has the most features one can wish from such a program!

I have used Audiograbber in the past and have been really happy with it. It's a little slow but that's the price you pay for quality. I would like to see it be a little easier or more intuitive to use and it could use a few more features (maybe a newer version now is like that?). But you can't really go wrong with it.

I did tried Audiograbber before (it was still a commercial software)..It was good but I was annoyed by its nags so I find an alternative to it which is CDEX > http://cdexos.sourceforge.net/ . Its good (although with minor tolerable bugs in it)...and I have no plans replacing it back with Audiograbber (even though its a freeware now).

My favourite and I believe some sort of a "standard" on this field is EAC (Exact Audio Copy) with LAME compresser.

i tried audiograbber, but as always in my case, i had some problems with it so i found audiogogo ( www.audiogogo.prv.pl ), it is very similliar to audiograbber, and have the same functions i think. it was always freeware, not as audiograbber. it is also translated to many languages. this program is not ideal, but it's enough good for me.

If I want to rip any CD and convert the tracks to digital files, i just use Windows Media Player, although I concede that there is considerable loss of quality and it only converts to WMA format. I can't be bothered to download any specialised software for ripping purposes.
