| | I have an older motherboard, and before I upgrade to a new pc, I would like to replace my old video card. I want something that will be able to handle (to some extent) some of the newer video games - Doom 3, etc. I am impartial to the brand, but I would like to stay with ATI or NVIDIA. I had a GeForce 4 4800SE, and I am definately looking to upgrade from that.
My budget is $100 - 150. I have looked into the geforce 6800 gs I believe, which competes with the gt with about a -$200 price deduction on it. I don't want the best available. I just want something that will maintain steady framrates through most of the games out today. Any advice or past experiences are welcome. |

certainly you can go for the 6800 GS, and I highly recommend it since it's better than the Radeon 9800XT. Plus, it costs around $90 something (USD) or $100 (CAD) if you know where to look. xboxrulz

I have a PC-based recording studio with a very specific problem. I am getting a sort of scratching
noise through the speakers when I move the mouse, load software or scroll web pages. It seems like
it is coming from the motherboard, but I can't tell for sure. I changed hard drives and sound
cards and it still exists. I'm using the on-board video controller, so I haven't yet
eliminated it as a suspect. Other people have described having the same problem and it was most
noticable for them when they had a laptop plugged into a PA system. They could hear the scra...

I'm currently using a Generic 400/450watt P4 PSU. When I upgrade some hardware components soon,
I'm thinking of getting a better quality one to make sure everything is fine (and I probably
should have gotten one ages ago), but I don't have a whole lot to spend on it. Basically what
I'm looking to find out is what the equivalent is for a better quality PSU, as iv'e heard
say a 350watt antec would beat the pants off a generic 450watter or some such. I am looking at:
